After you have collected 17,000 gems you gain access to Hunter's Snowboard Race challenge. This is the toughest, meanest, bonus I have ever seen!! Hunter explains about the Sasquatch Six who are the local club champions and how Spyro can beat them with his new turbo snowboard. This is a 3-lap race and only 1st place wins the prize money, which happenes to be 1,000 gems. Anything less the 1st place will mean you'll have to do it all over again and Hunter has to lick the ice to get the course ready.

To gain "turbo" speed, Spyro has to perform acrobatic jumps in the air, off the ski ramps. The more difficult the acrobatic jump (for example flips and multi twists) the more turbo boost Spyro is awarded. The blue stars are temporary turbo boost and the red stars are heat-seeker bombs. You need to hit all 6 Yetis with a heat-seeker missle or a close flame up the butt, sometime during the course of the race, or you will never win. Spyro needs to be within visual striking range of a Yeti racer, for the missle to work.

Don't worry about the gems during the race. You cannot afford to go off course or to lose a safe landing on an acrobatic jump, more than once. Try to get to 4th or 5th place by the end of the 1st lap, and you have to be in 2nd place or better after the 2nd lap. You need to use all the turbo boosts and have a rocket on hand for the final section of lap 3. The last Yeti will try to beat you on the very last section, but you can blow him up with a heat-seeker missle, giving Spyro a clean path to a 1st place finish.

SHORT-CUT HINTS: (Thank you to Greg & Brent!) If you find, after several 100 attempts, that you just can't win the race, here's a surefire way to win. From the very first ramp on the left, do 5 front spiral twist flips to get FULL turbo boost. At the top of the first big hill, turn hard left and in full turbo boost land down below and go by Hunter in the wrong direction. Stay right and run head-on into the small wall on the right (the second wall). Once Spyro is reconnected with his board, he will be going the right direction on lap 2 as he passes Hunter. Repeat this 2 more times and you will be in 1st place when you finish.
