Year Of The Dragon


Gabrielle the ice fairy, gives Spyro a new power just for this level. Spyro's flame is now an ice cube maker. Very handy for taking out rhynocs and using them as a box to jump onto, to get to unreachable ledges. Yes, It's snowing again!!

Frozen Altars 1 As you work through the level, you come across Alex, who explains the laser defense system. Walk into any of the stone houses and then using your directional pad, aim the laser beam at all the various things around the area. Don't forget to include any ice walls or hardened gem chests. Use the [triangle] button to return back to the level. Work around to the left, then glide across to the next section by the pyramid. Ice any campfire first then headbash to scatter the logs to prevent them from coming back.

Laser defense system notes. The laser beam can melt ANYTHING that is made of ice. This includes the nasty snowmen running around or roaming ice dogs. You can also explode gem barrels and chests and maybe melt a hidden archway or door??

Frozen Altars 2 Once you're done with the snowman, turn Ernest into an ice cube, jump on top, then glide and hover over to the pyramid stairs. Climb to the top, grab all the gems, then from the top of the stairs, fly over to the roof of the laser defense house. From there you can fly to the far away island and an egg. Fly back to the main area and go into the tunnel where the gnasty snowman was blocking the way. Work your way through the next 2 open areas then climb the stairs to have Eustace open the exit portal.

Frozen Altars 3 At the end of the level by the exit portal, pay Moneybags the 500 gems and enter the cat hockey arena. Errol explains that you have to freeze 5 kitties and push them into the net before your opponent pushes 5 kitties into his net. This is a little harder then it looks. Fire a flame behind an ice-cubed kitty. This will slide them all the way down the far end of the ice. The secret is to ice your opponent while you do your own work. Best to slow him down as often as you can.

Frozen Altars 4 In Bentley's 2nd house, we are faced with a series of boxing match against Spike. I thought we had enough of him already. Anyway, Match 1 for the 1st egg, is just beating all the health out of Spike. A good series of close punches should do the trick. Match 2 is a little trickier and requires 3 rounds to get Spike down. You have to pace Bentley so he doesn't use up all his strength taking punches on the first 2 rounds. Be patient and strike when the opportunity is right.

SKILL POINT: TKO on Spike during any round of the boxing match challenge.

CECIL = On the island gliding from the roof of the 2nd laser defense house.
JASPER = Walking along the far ledge of the pyramid from the 3rd laser house.
JANA = Reward from Eustace at the end of the level.
ALLY = As Bentley, winning Round 1 of the boxing match.
RICCO = As Bentley, winning Round 2 of the boxing match.
BA'AH = Reward for winning the cat hockey game.
