Chapter 12 starts right at the end of Chapter 11. There's no movie sequence to transition. We're on a river dock high in the mountains of the island. There's a jet-ski in the corner. Nate will drive again. Elena will be riding shotgun with only her pistol available as the shooter. The river has a strong current and we'll be driving upstream all the way. This is way harder than the first time.

The river channel is narrow and the water current is really strong in places. Nate has to drive up several small rapids and rushing waterfalls. When you see a choice of going left or right, look for the rapids with the gentler incline. Keep the jet-ski at full throttle when climbing up the rapids. Watch out for FAST-MOVING explosive barrels! Shoot them as soon as Elena can see them. Barrels will be plunging down the rapids as you try to drive up.

There will be several sniper outposts along the way [X]. The problem for us is where to take cover? There are no columns or achways to hide behind, so it's up to Elena to be a really good shooter while drifting backwards in the water current. Get close enough to see the enemy (while taking a few gunshots yourself) and hope for the best that Elena can kill them before you die from the injuries. Recover your health (screen comes back to full color) and move on.

In one section, the waterfalls are high and the path up the river is trickey. To make matters worse, there's a safari guy with an RPG high on a cliff hunting you down [X]. Drive up behind one of the large boulders in the river (out of his sight) and locate the position of the sniper (from the rocket trails). Drift back from the boulder and try for a headshot. DON'T DRIVE UP THE FALLS UNTIL HE IS DEAD! or you'll be a sitting target and almost certainly dead in the water.

After dealing with the RPG, Nate and Elena approach a small abandoned village. There are snipers everywhere! Do your best to take down the snipers on the upper building balconies on the left AND right. If you're gonna die, this will probably be the place. It was next to impossible (at normal gameplay level) to get past this area. Elena has to be a quick shot and a good shot. You can't afford to miss too many times. Watch for another safari guy with an RPG.

One saving grace is that Elena has unlimited ammo. Continue to drive up the river, jumping the rapids, past 2 sets of broken stone archways. Eventually you'll reach a quieter, dimly lit series of tunnels, where the water current is not so fierce. Drive up to the end with the large waterfall on the right. Find the stone dock straight ahead and jump out. CHAPTER ENDS.
