This is by far THE MOST DIFFICULT LEVEL OF THE GAME. Without a question, you need to have all your wits and put your thinking cap on. There are many challenging puzzles and details to get through. Once you enter the main star chamber, the first thing you'll notice is that the 2 bulls are just sitting there like they are sleeping but they are awake.. you can see the tails and heads moving. Explore the main hall and see what you're up against. There are 6 chambers to explore in all. By the skeleton, grab the scrap piece of paper. This has the Egyptian alphabet conversion which will help you decipher various gate codes.

DO NOT WALK BETWEEN THE BULLS JUST YET. To corral the bulls, approach one at a time. There are 2 smaller rooms which are like cages.. Notice that on the south walls, there are levers which close/open the gate. So... entice the bull to chase you into the room, then dash out and close the gate while he's still inside. Now go back and repeat the process with the 2nd bull into the chamber on the other side. Ok. the place is safe now. Whew!! At the back of the main chamber, press the right, left then center button. The west gate down the west hall will open.

This is the main puzzle gate activator. Deciphering the symbols from the piece of paper:
grain = I
triangle = Q
falcon = A
A different combination opens different gates to different areas. A-I-Q opens the west gate. This is the room that gives you clues to the other room combinations you need to retrieve the 4 stone artifacts to complete the last gate puzzle.

I-Q-A opens the east door, east hall. This is a simple level compared to the others. All you have to do is stick Lara's hands in 9 wall-holes. Silver scarab beetles come out of most of them, but they are easily beat by jumping back over the pit. They fall in the pit trying to follow you. The Stone Of Re is in the snake=F and the gate mechanism is in the serpent=J. Return to main chamber and place the stone on the blue shelf in the west room
I-A-Q is a sinister maze. Nothing but devious blade-traps everywhere. First you get dangling balls that trigger blades. Once you see one drop, duck and crawl underneath. Then in the floor, you get flower scissor blades that spring up. Wait til it closes in the center then jump over. There are slingshot blades that traverse the entire length of a hall. When you see one, immediately duck and wait. The circular revolving blade wheels I absolutely hate.You can beat them by standing sideways in front of the wheel and jumping left/right.
At the back of the blade maze room is a wall switch. Pull it down and the gate to this area opens. Go back through the maze for more pain, up the stairs. To cross the pit, line up with the right wall. Run-jump and grab the ledge. Pull-up and run through the gate. After all this,THERE IS NO STONE ARTIFACT DOWN HERE!
Q-I-A opens the south door, west hall. Jump the pit, then carefully go to the right, down the slope towards the water. Note there are 4 crocs. Take'em out 1 at a time from the ramp with the grenade launcher or explosive arrows (2 each). Enter the room with the moat. Each wall has a monkey painting with a hole that you can reach into. The far wall has a lever to open the gate back to the main chamber. Once you have explored all 4 wall holes, the center trap-door opens. Drop in and get the Stone of Khepri. Return to the central chamber, place the stone on the shelf by the green light in the west room. |
Q-A-I opens the south door, east hall. This is an unbelievable water maze that had me going for 2 days. There are 5 symbols. The trick is that they have to be done in alphabetical order to open a sequence of trap-doors. Falcon=A, hand=D, snake=F, grain=I, serpent=J. Keep your wits about you and take notes. Sketch out the tunnels first, making sure you have lots of air to backtrack. Once you have pulled the levers in sequence, swim up the serpent shaft, for the Stone Of Atum. The switch opens the gate back at the main chamber. Backtrack to the entrance place the stone on the shelf with the purple light.
A-Q-I opens the north door, west hall. You may have to use some flares to get around this room. There are 3 crawlways that you can enter. To the left and to the right are T-shaped tunnels which lead nowhere. Be careful of the floor area with wooden beams. They are collapsible floors that lead to spike pits. From the center crawlway, turn left then left again. The Stone Of Maat artifact is right there. Backtrack out of the crawlway and return to the west room and place the last stone on the shelf. Once you've positioned all 4 stones on their shelves, the rear gate opens between the 2 blue shpyinx statues. |
In the back room, grab the 4 statues holding the holy scriptures. Do it quickly before the rotating blades descend from the ceiling. Use the monkey bar overhead to get to the next flower blade room. Jump to the middle to the room, then to the far exit. LEVEL ENDS.
