After falling in through the floor, Lara is deep in the dark caves. A fellow journeyman is with her. He lights the way with torches as you work your way into the level. Watch for red scorpions everywhere. Laura's only weapon at this point, are hand pistols with unlimited ammo.

Many of the small depressions have flares and ammo as well as a shotgun with shells. Look in all the corners eventhough it's dark. Use up your flares as you need them. You do get lots along the way that you will never use. There are hidden med-packs as well. Make sure you explore every alcove, ledge, and pit. Off to the right is a hidden alcove which has a secret med-pack. There's a movie sequence with a wild dog which can be taken care of with the shotgun. Inside the red room, there are holes in the wall you can reach into activating switches or for goodies.

Before you touch any of the walls, off to the right there is a passageway down to a pit area. Jump in the pit and get the med-pack and shotgun shells first. Come back, and now put your hand in the various wall openings. One fills the pit with sand and gives you access to the pedestals at the back for the first half of the eye artifcat and a med-pack. The second-half of the artifact is in the small room. As the door opens, the guide will go first. He'll stop just past the entrance and disengage the blade trap. Combine the 2 eye pieces, use them in the room with the gold button.

Before you leave the room, there is a rope which will swing into a huge circular room with revolving blades. Uzis and med-packs are there. You must time your jumps precisely. Watch out for the wild dogs. Once in the second chamber, the guide will take you to the sphyinx. Follow him. Let him flame the pool. Go to the room with the floor symbols and pull the chain in the small room. Jump on the lit floor tiles in sequence without hitting other tiles. This will light the torches on the far wall, opening the grate. Go retrieve the sandglass.

Back at the base of the sphynx, off to the left is a ladder to climb. Throw the switch at the top of the ladder, climb down, and go in the room where the grate opened for ammo. Go down the passageway and enter the small room. Your guide gets scared and runs away. In the next room, climb the statue and put the sand artifact in its hands.. This opens a grate and the sand from the sphynx room comes in. This reveals a mouth in the sphynx. Climb through the mouth and exit.
