If you hate bugs, this will make you squeemish. Similar to the movie "The Mummy", this level is filled with swarms of little silver scarab bettles that love to bite. You know they're around when they make that scampering metal noise as the swarm nears. STAY AWAY FROM THEM altogether because you can't kill them.

Lara learns a new move and can now hold and light a flame torch. It saves on flares in areas where there is low light. It also repels the scarab beetles but I wouldn't rely on it. You do have to drop the torch to climb or retrieve items. Once inside the long hall, jump up and monkey bar across right away, before the beetles come. Drop down to enter a room with a glow rope. Using the rope, slide down to the middle level. Back-flip off the rope. The bottom level has beetles. Don't go there! Drop the torch, shoot the 2 vases then pick-it up again.

With the torch, drop to the lower level and explore the 3 alcoves. The torch keeps the beetles at bay but you will use a number of large med-packs as they swarm you, when you have to drop the torch to put your hand in the walls. Work as quickly as you can. In 2 alcoves there are switches, in 1 there's a much-needed med-pack. Run as fast as you can, use the sprint key, then return to the rope, climb up and run out the door in the middle area with the torches. Open the left door and enter a hallway to a very strange looking puzzle room.

Because this is a large and complicated level, I'm covering it in 3 pages. THE SENET GAME IS COVERED ON ITS OWN PAGE. Off to one hallway is another big chamber. The flaming walls can be beaten by watching the flame cycles. When the flame dies away, run and grab the lever or med-pack in the hole in the wall. Jump back quickly before the flame reignites. The center wall tile goes dark. When you feel rumbling, a block to the right has moved, exposing another room with 2 flame walls. Solve the puzzle of the 6 flames.

Once you've solved the puzzle, a movie flash will show a golden lattice cage rise from the floor in the main room. You can climb this cage to get to the center column. Inside the center column is one more flame wall that disables the flames down the stairs in the underground room. You now have access to retrieve the instruction tablet lying on the pedestal, to play the ancient game of Senet.
