More like a maze with way too many tunnels, pits and wild dogs. Best to keep your shotgun handy at all times.
There are at least 15 rooms with connecting underground tunnels. DRAW A MAP WHILE YOU EXPLORE. This will keep directions straight and will help you advance to new rooms in the level.

When you first enter the level, go to the left to the gas station with the truck. On the platform is a jerry can that you can use later for gasoline. Take out the dogs along the way. Go back down the alley and blast through the door with the danger sign. In the middle of the floor is a camoflauged trap door that you can open leading to a secret. Finish here, go out to the right. Kick down the door, open the trapdoor and go down the tunnels. There are 4 dogs along the way. Find the room with 3 golden Lionheads on the walls.

It took a while to figure out that each lion has a jewel in it's mouth that you can shoot. All you need is your pistols and a good jump from Lara. Once you shoot-out the jewel, the lion's mouth closes. Once all 3 are closed, the rear door opens. 2 mummies come out, but 1 explosive arrow pegs'em both. Grab the waterksin and backtrack to the tunnels, but this time out the left exit to a new area. 2 little scorpions and bats greet you. Around the corner another dog to take down. From here jump across the pit to the alley.

Blast through the door with Lara's pistols, open the trapdoor and down the next set of tunnels. There are more bats, more dogs and another room with 3 lionhead statues. Like before, shoot-out the jewels in the mouths of the lions, take out the 2 mummies that emerge from behind the opened door and grab the bag of sand. Backtrack through the tunnels, turn right and then left to retrieve some goodies. Then left again and up to a new area. Open the door to get outside.

From here, jump to the triangular ledge at the corner of the building and then jump again to the far ledge. Go through the opening to the next trapdoor. Take out the 2 scorpions and then down into the tunnels again. More dogs come to greet you and yet another room with lionsheads. Repeat the process like the previous 2 rooms. The rear door opens revealing another chamber with 3 scales. Each scale has a symbol. Lines=Water, Sun=Fire & Pyramid=Earth.

While standing in the little waterpool at the back of the room, use the waterskin from your inventory. Pour it on the water scale. Using the bag of sand from your inventory, pour that on the earth scale. Use the jerrycan full of gasoline, pour it on the earth scale. Go back to the tunnels and grab the torch by the T-intersection. Light the torch with any wall torch and then light the scale. The door to the WEST opens and all the torches go out. Always a good idea to relight the room then throw the torch in the waterpool for safe-keeping eventhough it may not help you do anything. Grab the Northern Shaft key from the wall using the crowbar, knock-out the 3 jewels in the lionheads in this room, which opens the EAST door past the scale room. Knock out the 3 jewels in the EAST room, climb the stairs, take out the dogs and exit to the upper area.

Up top, take out more scorpions. Jump to the left first to an open ledge. From there run jump straight across and pull-up on the ledge [on the right in the photo]. Open the door, kill the bats, go through the trapdoor and down into the tunnels yet again. Lara should have her pistols drawn down here to help take out the scorpions before you see them. Grab the ammo, then climb up out the other side. Kill the dog, shoot out the boards with the danger sign, open the next trapdoor and go down to yet more tunnels.

Take out some more dogs along the way and enter yet another room with 3 lionhead statues. Shoot-out all 3 jewels again opening another door to a larger room with 3 monkey statues and funny lever things infront of each one.
When you look closely, the statues represent HEAR NO EVIL (on the left), SEE NO EVIL (center) and SPEAK NO EVIL (right). Using the crowbar, release each monkey. Wait for the monkey to attack. One monkey doesn't attack and pulling a switch high up on the ledge. This opens the door on the right.

Grab the Northern Shaft Key from the wall, take out the 2 mummies, and shoot the lionsheads again. This opens the door on the far side of the monkey statue room. In that room, shoot the 3 lionhead jewels and then leave up the stairs.Slide down the ramp, LEVEL ENDS.. *thank god*
