In ancient times, Cleopatra was considered to be the ultimate beautiful woman and was adorned the title Queen of the Nile and the Goddess of Fertility. Therefore, you can imagine that her surroundings would be elegant, plush, full of riches and creature comforts. The secenery in this level is stunning and worth looking at.

In the fountain pool, there is a passageway underwater to the right which leads to a wall tile with a hole. Pull the switch in the hole which projects a movie sequence of a floor section opening up somewhere else in the level. Return to the main courtyard and go north past the balcony. Down the series of halls are wooden chests that you can shoot. At the end is a very narrow hallway with triangles on the floor. Guess what?.. This is a blade trap. Note the marking on the floor. Combine the mechanical scarab with the winding key and let the mechanical scarab race down the hall.

Retrieve the mechanical scarab at the other end. DO NOT USE IT TWICE on the same blade trap. It will cause the scarab to run in circles and self-destruct. To the left are stairs leading to a small room. Note the overhead blades. Enter the room, retireve the right gauntlet from the chest, peg the skeleton that awakes and then time your run back to the hallway. Through the other hall go to the right. The left hall is trouble, avoid it. To the right are a series of rooms with chests to get goodies. Go to the painted hall.

From here you have 2 options. To the left, is a room filled with greenery and a caged room in the middle with a golden door. The L-shaped pit is in the corner. Go down and shoot the bench in the alcove. Up top, there is a wall switch by the big doors. Jump , pull the switch and a block rises out of the floor while the doors open. A skeleton comes to greet you. Jump on the block, grab the ledge and shimmy all the way across to the far wall. Pull up, and grab the right greave from the chest in the room with the pool and scissor blades. Peg the skeleton then backtrack.

The golden door leading to the caged room is now open. Retrieve the Pharos Knot and shoot the bench. To the right of the painted column hall is a passage leading to 2 more blade hallways. You only have 1 more life in your mechancial scarab so use the right hallway. At the end is a chest with 6 goodies. Return to the sweeping arch staircase and insert the Pharos Knot. Enter the Grand Ceremony Hall. This is stunning. It is very large. Jump on the first block, get the med-pack and watch as a swirl of electricity creates a golden statue of Lara ?

A block rises out of the floor. Climb the block and monkeybar across to the far wall. Climb up and walk across the elevated walkway. The first of 3 golden birds comes out. Not only does it attack you, but when it attacks the statue of Lara also loses health. Best to peg it with the explosive crossbow arrows and the laser sight. Jump across and climb the ledge to the top level with the suspended platform. The sceond eagles comes out. Drop down to the elevated walkway and take him out. Do it quickly. Return to the upper level. Note the 2 black switches on the suspended blocks. Jump to pull each switch then drop to the elevated walkway. Return to the top again, pull the other switch. The 3rd golden eagle comes out. Take him out quickly. Return again, then jump across to the wall edges on either side. 2 wall-holes have opened up in little alcoves behind the mask tiles. You now should have the Ornate Handle & Hathor Effigy artifact. Combine the 2 together and
insert on the pedestal on the far wall. The door opens. Kill the skeleton and enter the infamous throne room of hidden treasures of Cleopatra.

The final room of this level. Lara gets comfortable sitting on the throne but 2 armored guradians emerge. These guys are extremely tough to kill and you will use a ton of shotgun and Uzi ammo to kill them. Thank God you can deal with them one at a time. After you have finally killed both of them, grab the Left Greave and Breast plate artifacts and fall through the trap door. If you want to save time, use up some med-packs and just out-run them while retrieving the artifacts.
