The opening movie sequence explains how desperate things are becoming. Lara finds Jean-Yves tied to a pole in the middle of a courtyard. As she frees him, he explains that Von Croy is under the Citadel digging up ancient ceremonial tablets to prepare for his resurection. Von Croy seems to be more and more possessed and now conjures up 2 ancient poltergiest guards from a sealed tomb with the help of the amulet. This doesn't look to be a good situation coming up.

Once inside the checkered courtyard, go to the left to another smaller courtyard. The camera goes all funny but it is concentrating on the rope. At the far left is a set of stairs. To the right is a small room dimly lit with torches. On the ground, there is a torch. Grab it and light it. Flip the switch before you light the torch. This opens the big doors in the main courtyard. Go back to the smaller checkered room, jump up and torch the rope. This open a hole in the first room. Return to the room and keep the torch with you while you jump down thru the floor.

Down the tunnel and to the right is a large chamber with stairs and a pool at the bottom. A movie sequence shows a guard running up the stairs. We'll get him later. To the left is an opening with another set of stairs that seems to go nowhere. Jump to the stairs. Note that on the walls of the pit, there are diagonal crevices working down to the bottom. Climb up the stairs and jump up to monkeybar across to the crawl space opening to the right. Drop and grab the ledge. Get the secrets. Safety drop to the oily pool. Swim through the opening to the main room.

Climb out on the far walkway and run-jump, pull-up on the blocks by the stairs. From the ledge where you jumped to the stairs going nowhere, back safety drop and work your way down the crevices to the crawlspace just above the waterline. After the crawlspace is another room with angled blocks and a pool below. Save game here. The next jumps are trickey. Back-flip while sliding, then immediately jump to grab the crevice. Shimmy left and pull-up in the alcove. Turn around and run-jump to the stairs. Draw weapons. Peg the blue-robed guys as they come.

At the top, pull the lever, safety drop down the left where the wall-flames were, and go down the stairs to the compass puzzle room. There are 4 pedestals to move to their corresponding direction on the compass. Each piece is marked on the top with an E,S,W or N. Use your compass to move them to the correct floor tile. All the doors will open. Explore all the areas. Lara came in through the south stairs. Down the west door is a room with 2 blue guys and a lever. Don't pull it yet. Down the east door is a dimly-lit area with a trap-door in the middle down to a pool.

The north door lead to a room with pillars, a chain dangling in a small water pool, and a door to the right. You can't pull the chain just yet, because the water interferes with your action button. You can swim down the passages all the way to a central underwater chamber (the same area if you dropped in through the trapdoor from the east room). The air pocket in the center is your check-point to explore the 2 other passages. Down one long passage is another dark room with a switch on the ceiling, pull it. This closes the trap door in the east room. Down the other shorter passage is a switch you can't pull yet. Go back up to the north room with the pull chain and pull the lever in the east room. The water level is now lower in the underground chamber and the short passage there is now dry and you can pull the lever. This opens another trapdoor in the chamber which lowers the water further in the chamber, now exposing the chain in the north room which can be pulled. This opens the door in the north room.

In the next room, there are 2 shield guards that awaken. Climb the platform and wait by the baracaded exit. The guards will make their way up the ramp and swing their swords at you. This will break the beams allowing you to exit to the torch room. Grab the goodies that are scattered around and exit through the hall. Von Croy is waiting. If your'e daring, there is a trap door to the left, down to a whole bunch of secret ammo and 2 more guards. Level ends as Lara jumps to safety. This seemed to be a logical point to take inventory.
