Tomb Raider Legend

Bolivia Tiwanaku

The first page of this walkthrough is a training level. Here Lara gets familiar with her moves and we get comfortable with the controller.

Bolivia Waterfalls 1 [opening movie sequence]. Young Lara and her mother are on a small propeller plane on their way to Bolivia. In mid-flight, a sudden fire causes a malfunction in one of the engines (maybe sabotage), and the plane goes down. Lara's mother is lost but Young Lara survives. She vows to return to find her!

Bolivia Waterfalls 2 Lara climbs the face of the cliff and walks out to this open waterfall area. This is home to an ancient Inca civilization. OK.. Follow the on-screen directions and learn how to jump, hang-on to a ledge, pull-up and kick things with your feet. There's not much area to explore but there are goodies to be had. In this Tomb Raider game, there are hidden skill points called rewards. For each level, there are many gold, silver and bronze rewards.

Bolivia Waterfalls 3 There are bronze rewards 1 + 2/10 in this area of the falls. The first is off to the left down at the end of the passageway. The second one is on the other side of the stream. Jump over and climb up the face of the ledge. Walk to the cliff at the back. To the right is a small alcove. You can see the glowing light of the reward. Walk up to the statue and stand next to it. Use triangle to pick it up. It will now be in your inventory.

Bolivia Waterfalls 4 Jump in the lagoon and learn to swim. Pull-up on the platform, and climb the ledge. Zip will introduce you to a new gadget. This is Lara's PDA. You can access this device by [select] on your controller. The PDA gives you all the mission data, current objective and status of your rewards (how many you have collected and how many there are to collect).

Bolivia Waterfalls 5 Up next is a very important new move. Lara can now grab and push/pull objects using [triangle]. The object will glow slightly lighter in shade, if it is moveable or breakable. In this exercise, grab the boulder, and push it over the side. It falls harmlessly to the ground below but more importantly, opens a path forward. Jump across, pull-up and walk to the right to the vines hanging on the cliff wall. Follow the instructions and climb to the upper ledge.

Bolivia Waterfalls 6 Now it's time to cross the gorge using a swinging rope vine. Run and jump off the ledge in the direction of the rope. Press [X] to catch the vine. The obvious swing point is the visible rock ledge by the waterfall... BUT... that is not where we are going. To the left, there is a small archway in the cliff wall leading down to a dark tunnel. [see the X in the image] Pivot to the left while hanging on the rope. Swing back and forth and jump to the ledge.

Bolivia Waterfalls 7 The tunnel is dark but Lara has a new flashlight. Toggling the [left directional key], Lara can turn the light on and off. The light uses kinetic power, so it has a timer. The power bar in the lower left corner will slowly go down as you use up the kinetic battery. Using the flashlight, walk down the tunnel til you reach silver reward 1/5. Pick it up and walk off the edge of the tunnel. Lara will auto-grab the ledge. Jump down to the lower tunnel.

Bolivia Waterfalls 8 Walk out the tunnel back outside. We are now at the top of the waterfalls. Jump across the gap and grab the rock ledge (follow the directions). Shimy along the rock ledge to the left all the way to the very end around a blind corner. Push the left analog stick to the left. Lara will detach one hand from the cliff in a move that looks like she is ready to leap (she is). Jump across [X] and grab the ledge. Pull up and start walking along the stream.

Bolivia Waterfalls 9 As Lara walks up the stream, a large boulder will start to move and roll down the gorge. Jump to the right to avoid being squashed. Walk up the stream to the fallen tree branches. Follow the screen directions and jump to the swing bars. Perform the pinwheel acrobatic jumps on the bars and grab the ledge by the small waterfall. Using the left analog stick point right. Jump across the water gap and grab the ledge. [short move sequence will begin].

Bolivia Waterfalls 10 Time to get down to business. Lara now has to take down a security guard. Using [L1] lock-down the target. Shoot using [R1]. 3-4 shots will do the trick. If you have suffered any kind of health injury, pick-up his healthpack [triangle] that he drops. Lara can only carry a maximum of 3 healthpacks (which will prove to be challenging). Needless to say, watch for healthpacks wherever you can find them.

Bolivia Waterfalls 11 Walk up the stream and then turn left along the cliff wall. Pick-up bronze reward 3/10. To get past the next small waterfall, Lara has to be creative. Along the back right cliff wall, there's a small stone platform. Up top is a movable boulder. Jump to the wall and grab the crack. Shimy to the right, around the corner. Jump up and grab the top ledge. Pull up and find the boulder on the far right side (it will be glowing slightly). Stand behind and push it off the platform [triangle].

Bolivia Waterfalls 11 The boulder will fall on the base of a fallen tree and tilt up the trunk, exposing a swing bar. Use the swing bar and grab the rock outcrop. From there, walk up the stream to the entrance to the ruins. Lara now has to use a grapple hook [triangle] to release the stone statue from the archway. Follow the on-screen directions to pull the statue. Walk through the opened archway. [movie sequence begins]. Of course... more trouble!
