This level starts out in another cobblestone street area. Note the chirping birds and the church bell ringing in the background. Very cool effects. The overhead clouds are moving in the sky. This is a long tough level.

The first task is to explore all the rooms. Go through all the open doorways. Shoot the yellow boxes to get a crowbar and a lasersight. The last door on the right is covered by a tinmetal door. Using the crowbar, open the door and climb the scaffolding to the tightrope. Jump to the window first for the medpack on the sill. Walk across the tightrope then jump to the ledge and the window sill. Pull up and walk across the overhead catwalk. This is a great view of the street area below.

The wooden gate at the other end will not open. From here, do a standing jump to the slanted ledge in the wall on the right then another standing jump to the next catwalk. Go in through the hole in the wall and drop down onto the ledge below. From here, drop to the floor. This is the room you couldn't open from the street. Grab the revolver shells and the flares then jump grab the ledge, climb up and go through the hole in the far wall. Turn around and safety drop to the floor down below.

Many of the doors and arches are barred. Note the only open room with the huge gear assembly. On the square pillar walls in the courtyard area, there's one with a climbable ladder. Climb to the top, move to the left, then slide down to the middle of the overhead arch. Face right, and run jump to the archway. Sidestep to the right, then do a diagnonal standing jump to the ledge. In the room. pull the rope 3 times. Each time you pull, a movie sequence shows the large gear being raised.

Once the 2 gears are aligned. jump back to the archway, then to the centre, then a final run jump and grab to the far archway. Another diagonal jump into another rope room. Pull this rope once. This activates the gear assembly which ultimately moves the giant gear in the open room. Behind that giant gear, is another chamber with an altar of a golden warrior. Note the coin orifice in the pedestal of the statue. Where the gear once was, to the left is a set of climbable blocks and the golden coin.

Pry the coin from the gate with the crowbar. A group of pesky rats come to greet you. Run back to the courtyard and wait them out. Now go back and place the golden coin in the pedestal. This opens another gate back in the first street section as shown in the cut-away sequence. Before leaving this area, go back to where you first entered. The trapdoor by the wall is now open. Down below are 2 set of shotgun shells and the 1st SECRET ROSE.

Go through the now opened gate and return to the 1st area. The wrought iron gate on the left is now open. Go through the gate walk down the alley, past the reflecting pool with the waterfalls and retrieve the revolver shells. Now go back to the pool area and go for a swim. There's a passageway on the left with a medpack on the bottom. You can look through the underwater grate and see the Venus Stone. Now surface on the far side, pull up and grab the revolver shells ahead. SAVE GAME.

A mechanical head robot starts to activate. Once he recharges his eyes, the laser burst that comes out will automatically kill Lara if she's hit. Run into the room, drop from the catwalk, run around the metal armature, and through the door at the back. Immediately turn left or right and hide behind a block. Using your revolver with lasersight, walk sideways from one of the blocks just out of view, and take out both eyes of the revolving head. This requires 2 absolutely perfectly aimed shots.

Once you take out the 2nd eye, the robot spins out of control and explodes, leaving behind the Mars Stone. Grab the stone then go straight to the circle floor tile. From the side of the circular grate, use [action] and Lara lifts the grate exposing a tunnel. Climb down and enter another underwater pool network (like a sewer system). Jump in and find the medpack. The underwater fan pushes Lara away from the lower tunnel so for now swim through the upper tunnel. Take a FULL BREATH first.

Swim through the maze of twisting passages until you reach a small room with a pipe and a torch. Using the crowbar, pry the valve wheel off the pipe. Return to the main area with the fan, then pull up, return to the room with the red blocks and place the valve wheel on the block. Now turn the valve wheel. This stops the underwater fan. Go back to the pool and swim through the lower tunnel. This is a long complicated swim. There are air-pockets along the way to catch your breath.

The lower tunnel first branches into a big main tunnel. Go right and through another large tunnel reaching the 2 large underwater fans. At the back of this chamber is an air vent. Pull up into the room and turn the valve. Return to the pool, swim down. The fans are now stopped. Swim through the tunnel on the right, and ALL THE WAY UP the twisting shaft. At the top pull-up and SAVE GAME. Once you walk and turn right, the gate behind you closes and the golden warrior statue comes alive.

Pick up the shotgun and the 2nd SECRET ROSE. The warrior is nasty. He not only fights with his sword, but he has a laser bolt that almost killls Lara. Keep plugging away at him with the shotgun and he eventually dies. Go into the room, climb the ledge, safety drop to the street and swim to grab the Venus Stone. When you surface from this pool, you are in the courtyard where the gate with the 4 stones was (from the 1st level). Watch the cut scene. Time to go battle the 3 flaming gargoyles.

Stay far away from these guys. Their flame will catch Lara on fire. If you do get caught, run for the pool. Keep moving while you plug away at them. They are stubborn but one at a time, eventually all 3 die. Place the Mars and Venus stones in the receptacles by the door. Befor going in, go back to the start of the level and get the 3rd SECRET ROSE. Enter through the mystical gate and jump the spike pit and then again to the far ledge near the golden sun, ledge collpases, Lara falls. LEVEL ENDS.
