After Lara slides down to the bottom of the cave, there is a sense of danger here. Skeletons are everywhere. The area is dimly lit. OK, time to explore the caves (but with pistols drawn at all times).

The first set of caves seem innocent enough. Off to the right, there's a recessed block with a bull ring. Looks like something that used to hold a chained animal? Push the block and inside is the 1st SECRET ROSE. Return to the main hallway. As you walk down the long high corridor, there is a rumbling then a cut scene as the walk-way crumbles away exposing a lava pit below. Run as far as you can, then jump to safety at the lost moment. You are now in a large room with a caged floor.

Looking back down the high corridor there is a small crawlway to the right. Lara has to safety drop to the ledge, than shimy across to the opening and crawl in. On the other side is a secret hall with a wall switch. This opens a sealed door in the main hall, you just came from. Return to the area and walk down the hallway. Before sliding down the ramp, make sure you have a weapon drawn. At least a revolver or shotgun. When you reach the floor area, you will be attacked by a charging lion.

Lots of skeletons around here. Those little kitties were hungry. On the near wall of this room is another switch. Press the wall switch and immediately turn around and draw a weapon. Another lion comes charging out of the other room that you just opened. A few good shots does the trick. Recharge Lara's health with a big medpack. At the far end of the next room is a climbable ladder to the ceremony room. In the center pedestal is a gemstone fragment. Take it and SAVE GAME.

In the next area, you get ambushed by 2 gladiators and another lion. In the alcoves, there are medpacks and Uzi ammo. In one alcove to the left, there's another wall switch that releases a lion and a gladiator. In that lion's den up at the top, there is a hidden room to the left, which has more goodies and the UZIS themselevs. Nice to have that weapon with us. The next room looks omenous. A huge cave with a rope ledge to the left and a series of blocks and a pedestal in the middle.

This is a run against time puzzle. When you pull the rope 3 times, a pedestal rises in the middle of the walkway overhead. You have 30 seconds to work your way across the blocks and back up to the overhead walkway to grab the gemstone fragment before the pedestal recesses back into the hole. Not an easy feat, but you can do it if you plan your jumps carefully. Grab the 2nd gemstone fragment. the door at the end of the walkway opens. As you walk through the door, the gate ahead closes.

In the next movie sequence, Lara falls through the floor and ends up dangling from a ledge above a very deep pit. Pierre is there of course, to save the day and helps Lara up. Lara refuses to give over the gems that Pierre wants and in a battle of wits, Pierre mistakingly falls backwards clinging to the ledge. Lara says "Busy girl.. Can't keep hangin' around".

Up the ramp is another room. There's a wall plate at the other end. [Combine] the 2 gem stone pieces to make a circular gem stone that inserts into the wall. Moments later, the floor rumbles, and starts to break away to a very deep lava pit down below. Lara has to turn around and do a running jump to a ledge on the far side of the room. From there, jump back across the room, to an open crevice on the far wall, where you placed the gem, then shimy across the ledge. Pull up into a room.

Climb up the block to the upper hallways overlooking the colosseum. A gladiator and lion immediately attack. Use the shotgun or Uzis you just acquired. The gladiator drops the 1st colosseum key. At the end of the hall are a large set of black doors. Insert the key. A movie sequence shows the next room with another golden warrior who awakens. This time he has a hammer that shoots a blue shock pool that takes Lara's health. Fire away at him with everything you've got.

Once the warrior's defeated, take a breath, recharge your health and look around. At the back of the second room where the warrior statue once stood, a hidden room has been opened. In that room is the 2nd colosseum key. Grab the key from the pedestal, open the black doors in the room, and slide down to the ledge far below. Using the crowbar, pry the Philospher's stone from the sun wall.
LEVEL ENDS and ADVENTURE ENDS...
