Tomb Raider 6

Louvre Storm Drains

After the movie sequences, we learn more about Kurtis Trent and the evil behind our new advisary Eckhardt and his plans for waking the Sleeper.

Louvre Storm Drains 1 Lara ends up inside the dingy and dark storm drain system, underneath the famous Louvre Art Gallery and Museum of Paris. There is not much to see in the first set of tunnels. Off to the left there is set of stairs and a large med-pack up top. There are a few rats running around, but nothing a few quick shots can't handle. There is a distant sound of cascading water. Walk to the end of the tunnel towards the waterfall. Don't fall in the drain.

Louvre Storm Darins 2 This is the central drain control room and tank. On the left wall is the valve control console. There are no switches to activate but the meters are important to watch. Every time Lara turns a water control valve, a meter will change on this console. There are a total of 6 valves to find in this level. There's one control valve off to the right, down a dark tunnel and then a narrow passage. Lara says she's not strong enough yet to turn that valve. We have to find Lara's strength power-up.

Louvre Storm Drains 3 Looking up, Lara can see several levels of catwalks. Walk all the way around the perimter of the central drain. Lara's help voice remarks that the drainpipe looks like it can support her weight. Climb the drainpipe. Near the top of the drainpipe, shimy left across the metal grating and pull-up onto the metal catwalk. Walk down the catwalk, to the electrical box on the wall. Pull the switch. This turns off the fan motor on the first level down the tunnel to the left. Go back down the drainpipe, back to the console.

Louvre Storm Drains 4 Jump over the gap where you came in, and down the tunnel on the other side. Shoot the rat along the way. To the right is a platform, and a metal ladder. You can see the fan motor with the broken blades, mounted in a vent shaft. Climb the ladder and go to the fan. As you turn the blades [action], Lara gets a strength upgrade. The fan will stop with the broken blades at the bottom. Crawl through the opening and then walk down the vent shaft. Grab the K2 inpactor batteries on the way.

Louvre Storm Drains 5 Jump down the vent shaft to the small valve room. Go to the 1st pipe valve and turn it [action]. A cut-away scene shows a valve meter on the console, clicking to the right position. Go back through the vent shaft, out the fan and down the ladder. Go across the central drain area and down the other tunnel. Go through the metal link door and down the hall. Grab the Vector clip on the floor. Shoot the rat. Go in the room and turn the 2nd valve. Another meter clicks to right on the console.

Louvre Storm Drains 6 Return to the drain room with the valve console. Climb the drainpipe again and walk along the upper catwalk. Engage [walk] mode. Walk across the orange and black striped crane beam. On the other side, turn the 3rd valve recessed in the wall. Another meter clicks to the right position. At this same moment, a series of mechanical noises are heard below and the central drain begins to fill like a pool. It's now safe for Lara to swim down the drain.

Louvre Storm Drains 7 Backtrack to the catwalk and then down the drainpipe. Jump in the pool of water. Swim down the drain. It's a long journey, but you'll have plenty of air to make it. Swim to the bottom of the pipe. Go left until its dark, then turn right. Follow the tunnel to the grate then swim up. Swim all the way up into another large tank room. Keep going up til you surface for air. There are no goodies along the bottom of the tank, so don't bother looking. Look for the mangled catwalk grating, hanging in the water.

Louvre Storm Drains 8 Climb up the catwalk grating and walk along to the striped crane beam. You'll have to jump blind to the beam. Engage [walk] so you don't fall off. Walk across the beam and turn the wheel on the 4th valve. Another meter on the console clicks to the right. Walk back across the crane beam halfway. Face the wall with the mangled catwalk. Jump up and grab the overhead cable. Monkey across to the catwalk. Now climb the mangled section. This is a little trickey but stay with it. Lara can make it.

Louvre Storm Drains 9 Walk around the catwalk, past the opening to the large sewer main with the metal cage. Lara's help voice says she can make that jump. Jump to the far catwalk and turn the 5th valve. Another meter on the console clicks to the right. One more to find. There doesn't look to be any valves above or below. Walk back around the catwalk to where Lara climbed up. Engage [walk] and carefully walk down the sloped section. Stop at the end, jump, grab and pull-up to the other catwalk. Go thru the door.

Louvre Storm Drains 10 Go down the hall, back into the main tank room. You can see the console down below. We are very high up and at the same height as the main waterflow. Make sure [walk] is engaged. The torrent of water around Lara makes her a little wobbly. The screen cam will go passive. Walk along the beam. About half-way, the camera goes active, and Lara can look around for the last valve. It's isolated on the wall with a small ledge. Go to the overhead cable, grab it, and monkey bar across to the last valve.

Louvre Storm Drains 11 As Lara turns the 6th valve, the cascading water stops! There is now an access tunnel open, to another storage tank area. Walk across the beam and then jump to the huge pipe tunnel. Open the door. I would SAVE GAME HERE!! The next area has a large rectangular pool and Lara's help voice can smell oil and says she should be careful? Ok. This is bad!! This means that the water is either toxic or very flammable. Safety-drop to the catwalk below. It's a long way but she'll survive.

Louvre Storm Drains 12 Walk along the derelict catwalk to the right to a large standpipe. Lara's help voice says she should check the map?. Instead of checking the map, she pulls out the explosive device and sets the detonator. Run around the edge of the catwalk and jump into the pool FAST!! An explosion erupts and the top of the pool catches fire. If Lara surfaces for air, she'll die. Even though you're swimming in water (not healthy though), the combination of oil & water, won't put out a fire and save her life?

Louvre Storm Drains 14 There's only one way out, and that's swimming through the drain pipes against the far wall. Make sure Lara doesn't accidentally float to the surface. Stay deep. Swim down either pipe. Look for a connecting pipe going to the left. Swim down that pipe as far as you can go. The pipe will slope upwards and Lara can surface for air. Walk up the pipe and then to the left. Climb all the way to the top.

Louvre Storm Drains 15 Lara is now high above the flaming pool, but far away from the exit. The explosion has ripped a hole in the wall [blue glow]. Safety drop from here down to the concrete walkway. Go to Lara's left as she faces the wall. Climb the steel ladder. The derelict catwalk we were just on, now has a couple of spot fires. From the top of the platform, jump across the first fire and land on the catwalk. Jump the second fire and then carefully walk past the spot fire by the pipe, making sure Lara hugs the wall.

Louvre Storm Drains 16 Go through the newly-opened hole in the wall. We are now safe. Very strange? Nobody's come to investigate the explosion? We are now in the basement of the Louvre Art Gallery and Museum. Cool place. Walk around the exhibits to the double doors at the end. LEVEL ENDS.
