Gameplay returns to Lara. She slides down a long passageway filled with mist. |
Up ahead, there's a split in the tunnels. Off to the left is a long cave, with 2 very small, distant platforms. Lara doesn't think she can make the jump across the gaps just yet. The tunnel to the right leads to a lava pool area. Go right first. The medpack to the right is visible, but behind a caged gate, that isn't accessible yet. Be careful as you walk ahead. Lara starts to slide down a slope. Gently steer Lara and jump to the small rock outcrop. |
From the middle of the rock outcrop, do a standing jump to the smaller pedestal platform straight ahead. Engage [walk]. From the very edge, do a standing jump over to the back wall by the lever. Lara gets a strength upgrade. She now thinks she can make that jump in the other tunnel. Pull the lever. This opens the gate by the front entrance of the tunnel. Jump up to the wooden catwalk along the left wall of the cave. Make your way back to the entrance and pick-up the medpack, by the gate. |
Go down the other tunnel and approach the edge of the open cave, by the lever. Lara now thinks she can make the jump. Pulling the lever, opens an iron door gate at the other end of the cave, which seems like an awfully long way. To make matters more complicated, the gate is on a timer. It only stays open for 15 seconds. Before making an attempt to jump across the cave, I would strongly suggest SAVE GAME. This will probably take a few tries. |
Once Lara pulls the lever, walk back down the tunnel about 5 steps. Quickly turn around and start to [sprint] towards the cave. In mid-sprint, jump to the first platform straight ahead. Try not to over-steer Lara in mid-air. If you try to correct her jump path in mid-air, chances are she will fall to her death. Continue to sprint and jump to the second platform, then sprint and jump to the cave exit and through the door. Should you waste time, trying to align Lara for the perfect jump, the gate will close. |
SAVE GAME AGAIN. You don't want to do that jump sequence again? Now Lara enters a huge cavern with lava pools and a gothic cathedral door at the other end. Jumping over the rock outcrops is NOT the way to go. Lava jets explode from the pit and barbecue Lara in mid-jump. Look to the left. There's a small ledge. From the cave entrance, jump to the left down to the ledge. Climb up the ladder to a landing, then up to the wooden rope bridge. |
The mid-section of the bridge has been torn away. With Lara's back to the wall, [sprint] across the bridge and jump across to the bridge section on the far wall. SAVE GAME. This next part is very trickey. Up ahead on the right, is a small wooden platform half-way up the cavern wall. It's under the shaft of light. On that platform is a lever. Back Lara up to the rope railing right at the corner of the bridge. Run-jump right at the edge before the sloped bridge ramp and grab the edge of the platform. |
Should Lara happen to slide down the ramp and jump to the rock ledge below, BEFORE pulling the lever, you will not make it out the cathedral exit door. Jumping to the steps, will activate a rotating blade mechanism that comes down the steps. Pulling the lever, will turn out the lights on the 2 guardian statues by the door. This somehow disables the blade trap. Should you happen to be in this position, with the lights still on, Lara has to back-track along the rock outcrops, to the ledge with the ladder. |
OK. So Lara has done this right, and has pulled the lever on the platform. Safety-drop down to the rock ledge and then jump across to the stairs. The camera goes passive when you walk to the edge of the platform and also the edge of the rock. Use the left joystick with the camera direction, to execute Lara's jump (probably left not up). Walk up the stairs to the door. As Lara approaches, lava streams down from the top of the door, releases a lock which opens the door into 2 pieces. LEVEL ENDS. |
