As Lara re-enters the Hall of Seasons, something strange has happened. Now, there are moving columns in the center of the zodiac floor area. There are 4 columns. Each one is moving in a different up and down cycle and at different heights. The power chamber must have activated the gear mechanisms to move these columns. First things first. Look for the skeleton warrior and disable him for awhile with your shotgun. Look for the shortest column. |
Stand to one side of the shortest column. When it cycles down to its lowest point, quickly jump-up and grab the edge. Pull up on top. Now look for the next tallest column. Engage [walk], so you don't fall off. Watch the column cycle up and down closely. You want Lara to jump, when the column you are on is at its highest point and the column you're going to jump to, is below you. This will give Lara enough jumping distance to land on top of the next column. |
Repeat the steps until you are on the highest column. Look up. There is a circular metal support beam above you. When the column is at its highest point, jump-up and grab the edge of the beam. Pull up. Look for one beam which is flat. Walk along that beam and jump over the railing to the perimiter hallway. |
It seems awfully quiet? Look for a set of stairs leading up to the next hallway. One way is blocked with a fence. Draw your shotgun. As Lara walks the other way, a skeleton warrior explodes from the wall. Take him down with a few shots at close range. Don't stand around. Run to the stairs and then up the stairs to a small alcove. The metal door to the right is locked. Draw your shotgun again. As you walk out, another skeleton warrior ambushes Lara. |
Be careful. the floor is half-collapsed and there's not much room to maneuver. Jump past the warrior then turn around and take him down with the shotgun. If you're lucky, the blasts for the shotgun knocked him over the edge and down to the bottom. If not, you can out-run him once he's disabled. Another warrior runs up the hallway. Take him down. Up ahead, there's a lit area with a climbable rock wall. There's a lever up on a small perch. Climb the wall, shimy across to the right and pull the lever. |
STRATEGY: You can get rid of the skeleton warriors PERMANENTLY! You can do this with the shotgun. As a warrior approaches, position Lara hugging the outside wall and a warrior near a broken section of railing. Blast away with the shotgun. Each shot will push the warrior backwards towards the center. If you time the shots right, you can knock the warrior off the balcony to the floor below. |
Right below you is the alcove with the opened door, but there is no way to jump or climb down there. Lara has to back-track and go all the way around the hallway. Of course, our firends the skeleton warriors are there to make it interesting. Go back into the alcove, through the now-opened gate and down the next hall. The cracked wall on the right is pushable. As Lara pushes, she gets a most important strength upgrade. Grab a small medpack and ammo on the floor. |
It's very dark inside this room. As you look back out to the hall, one of the skeleton warriors is approaching. Darn! Take him down from close range. Go back to the climbable wall and shimy across to where Lara pulled the lever. SAVE GAME! I cannot stress it enough SAVE GAME!! This next climb is tough and on a timer. |
Lara has to now climb the inverted rock face, all the way up, to the hole in the center of the domed ceiling! YES!! WAY UP THERE!! It looks impossible, but there is some good news. High up on the left is a small rock perch. Lara can do this in 2 stages. Ok. Jump up and climb the rock face. Turn around and monkey bar across to the ledge. You should have just enough strength to get there. SAVE GAME AGAIN! The next climb will need everything you've got!! Look down for this awesome view. |
Monkey bar straight ahead, hugging the left side. Keep Lara's camera behind her at all times, so you can keep your left analog stick pushed forward. At the edge, tap the left stick forward several times. You have to get Lara to quickly turn around and start the climb up the ceiling. Keep pressing the left analog stick to get her to climb as quickly as possible. Up top, shimy left as soon as you can. Your strength meter will be 0, right at the edge of the atrium. It took me 10 tries to make this ledge! |
Yes! SAVE GAME AGAIN! You don't want to do that climb again? Walk along the hallway, and then up the stairs to the left. Lara enters the Lux Veritatis Atrium and Monastary. Watch the movie sequence as the camera pans around the room. Lara goes up to the coffin and reads the inscription. Get ready! Things get ugly when the game goes back into active play. Immediately crouch. There's a deafening haunted roar coming from a red ghost hovering around. This warrior monk is nasty and angry! |
The red ghost will swoop and scream at Lara. When you get a breather, draw the shotgun and crouch again. As he swoops by, peg him with everything you've got. You may be able to stun him for about 5 seconds. When he stops and hovers, with his back to you, run to the monk statue with the blue light. He's holding the First Obscura Painting. If you're not fast enough, the blue light will go out, and show up in another monk's hands. Once you have the painting, crawl out to the exit. |
Crawl down the stairs as far as you can go. The red ghost is STILL following you. Go into the hallway which is now knee-deep in water. Now Lara can stand-up. Slosh your way straight down the hall. The red ghost will try to follow but gives up. LEVEL ENDS. The Tomb Of Ancients level will now reload. |
The hallway will fill with water. Swim up through the square tunnel into one of the gates of the Tomb Of Ancients. The entire tower is now filled with water. Swim up to the rock cave opening where Lara first came in. Swim up to the light and exit. LEVEL ENDS. The Archaelogical Dig level will now load. Up top, there is only one way out. Jump on the crate by the fence. Jump up and grab the fence. Pull up over the fence and jump down. Go through the large metal doors. LEVEL ENDS. |
