Lara is back home inside Croft Manor. This is the home base for all Tomb Raider games. The layout of the house is almost exactly the same as previous games, but this time we have a few additional rooms and open areas to explore. All she has in her possession right now, is her trusty grapple. |
Ahhh.. It's good to be home. BUT. Winston reminds Lara (in a note) that certain areas of the home are under renovation and several crates had to be stored in the living room great hall. In addition, the water has been turned off inside and outside the mansion. Annoying and a bit surprizing.. the library has been locked from the inside. Winston has no idea who did it? (seems deliberate) Time to explore. On all the tables, there are open books.
As Lara approaches any open book, the [triangle] interact button will appear. Lara reads aloud the passage from any open book. She only reads once. If she has already read the text, she says I have read it already or it has no interest to her. There are NO rewards for reading all the books, but it may give you clues now and then. Go explore the stacks of crates at the back of the room.
There is one crate against the wall that is smaller and movable. Interact with the crate and pull it out into the middle of the great hall. There is a pressure pad in the floor with a decorative plate. Push or pull the crate onto the pressure pad. A secret compartment behind the fireplace opens revealing a golden arrow Lara can't get to it because of the fire in the fireplace. Go and climb the stack of crates. Shimy across the painting on the back wall.
At the end of the stack of crates, look for the halo around an item of interest (or needed). Grab the sculpture gear. Lara wonders to herself what this is doing inside? (hint). Climb down the stack of crates and go through the door on the right. Walk down the hallways into the pool area. There is scaffolding everything, and the pool is covered with planks. Before venturing around, find the waste bin. Pull on the bin til it's inline with the scaffolding. The long pole should be in between the gap.
There is also a ring with a rope attached. It is holding an overhead statue suspended from the ceiling. Hmmm. There is no way to release it. Lara needs her pistols. Leave the pool area and return to the great hall. Go up the stairs to the left and find the library. Once inside, climb the stairs and go inside the small office. Push the 2 books and release the book case. Grab your pistols. While you're here, read the open books, upstairs and down.
On the way out of the office Lara looks to the left and says she needs something to shoot? Jump to the painting and grab the top of the frame. The painting slides down the wall. Lean back and jump back to the upper balcony railing. Use your pistols, target aim and fire on the button in the wall. Down below, a secret wall panel opens leading to a staircase. Along the back wall, shoot out the glass case for artifact 1/8. Downstairs, grapple and pull the chandelier to reveal artifact 2/8.
Go down the stairs. Unfortunately, the door back to the hallway is locked, so we have to find another way out. Along the far wall, find another protruding book. Push the book in. Another section of bookcase opens up. Grab the maze map (This is for outside in the garden). Go down the stairs to the basement. Down the corridor, on the left is a utility cabinet. Pick up the empty wooden bucket. Shoot out the crates amd climb the stairs.
Lara is now in her art gallery. This is where Lara displays all her prize relics from successfully completing levels of the game. If you look closely, there are 2 already from Peru. Run up the stairs and enter the office. Load your pistols and shoot out the glass in the wall cabinet. Grab the sundial gnomen [pointer]. Read all the open books in the office. One in particular will give you a code 11-2-7. Remember it for later.
Go to the door leading back out to the hallway. Deactivate the security lock first. Go back down into the great hall and across to the door to the pool. Back inside the pool area, load your pistols and shoot out the ring on the scaffolding. A cable releases freeing part of the overhead statue. Find the stack of crates along the back of the right wall. Climb up top, swing across the brace. Leap to the balcony, shimy across and jump to the scaffolding.
From the scaffolding, lean to the right and jump to the statue spear. Swing up to the far upper balcony. Grab the ultilty cart and push it over to the Athena statue. One of the statues has been broken and is on its side. Push the bin to the round pressure pad in the floor (where the statue was before). Twist it around til the long pipe faces the X marked in the floor. Turn the other statue to match. The stone plate in the back wall moves. Load your pistols and shoot the button. A pool grate opens.
From the statues, go to the far end of the balcony (behind the crates) and shoot the ring holding another cable. This releases another cable on the overhead statue. Jump down to the lower level. Climb the stack of crates again and work across the room to the fare scoffolding. Jump across the gap and land on the long pipe (in the trash bin). Quickly jump to the far platform before you lose your balance and fall. Along the far wall, use the grapple. THIS IS A NEW MOVE. Use the grapple and walk across the wall then jump to the other platform. Push the wooden crate off the edge of the scaffolding platform to the floor below.
Walk across to the back balcony. On top of the Atlas statue grapple the steel ball and pull it off Atlas's hands. Roll the globe onto the saucer-shaped pressure pad in the floor. A second round grate retracts from inside the pool. Before going back down, go the far end of the balcony, load the pistols and shoot-out the ring. Another tether cable release from the overhead statue. Pick up the small medpack while you're there. Drop down to the floor and find the wooden crate you dropped to the floor. Climb up to the scaffolding. Jump to the seesaw scaffolding and then quickly to the far wall frame. Shimy to the right to the next wall of planks then right across from the balcony. Lean back (blind) and jump to the balcony. Shoot out the last ring releasing the last tether cable.
The overhead statue drops and breaks through the wood plank floor. The pool area is now open.
Safety jump down to the floor then drop down through the hole in the floor to the pool bottom. Among the debris, pick-up the golden bow. We'll use that outside. Walk down the connecting tunnel and pick-up artifact 3/8. Return to the pool area, climb up to the main floor, go back out through the great hall. Find the door on the left under the stairwell. Go outside to the garden.
