Damocles 1 If you're feeling brave and don't mind the detour, from the Atlas archway look left. Take a running jump and grab the stone wall egde on the left. Shimy left, then jump to grab the horizontal pole. Pull in on the pole and swing to the recessed stone ledge. Climb up the blocks and grab artifact 4/6 [X]. Around the far side, safety drop off the ledge to the stone ledge below. Drop down to the recessed wall. Pull the wall lever. The Damocles gate opens

Damocles 2 From the wall lever, safety drop over the wall and drop down the stone wall ledges to the floor level. While you're here, go to the wall receptacles and insert your keys. Now start the climb back up the center structure to the 3rd level (same as the Poseidon door). Look left. Use the grapple and pull the stone column from the wall. It crashes into the center structure creating a bridge. Walk across to the wall section with 2 metal cages.

Damocles 3 This is a little trickey. First we want to go right and grab the goodies on the lower ledge. Jump up to the ledge on the right and grab the metal cage. Pull the cage halfway so it aligns with the broken stone ledge. Safety drop to the ledge [1] then shimy right. Lean right, jump the gap and grab the other stone ledge. Shimy around the corner [2] and drop down for the small medipack. Backtrack along the ledges to the stone column where we crossed.

Damocles 4 Jump to the left ledge. Push the other metal cage into the end wall as far as it will go. Now jump back to the right ledge, climb the cage and turn around. Jump to the stone wall ledge on the other side. Shimy around to the left and over the cage [1]. Lara's feet will climb up the cage a bit, allowing her to lean left. Leap across to the stone ledges on the left [2]. Shimy to the right and drop down [3]. Grab another small medi-pack.

Damocles 5 Carefully safety drop over the ledge. Drop down one stone ledge and shimy right. Drop down another ledge and shimy to the right. Pull up into the a small cubby hole and slide down the stone ramp to the archway. Go down the hallway to the gate room. This time it's a little different. There's a stone perched inside the ledge blocking the upper path. Use the grapple and grab the ring. Pull the stone from the window. Stand clear. It falls to the ground.

Damocles 6 Pull the wall lever. The gate goes up about halfway (like the others), but then short circuits, sparks and falls back to the ground. Pull the lever again. Go to the end of the stone block that you pulled out, and when the gate goes up, push the stone block under the raised gate. Now it's jammed. Climb the block, then jump to the iron flange on the gate. Jump up and grab the opening. Crawl through to the other side. Safety drop to the floor.

Damocles 7 Walk down the hallway to the closed door. Step on the pressure plate in the floor. The overhead door opens and locks in place. Go inside the large pillar room. Walk across the floor between the pillars. Note the slats in the grated floor. (This can't be good). Walk into the back room with the 4 corner pillars. Look up. There's a huge chandelier with many heavy metal swords. The gate key is lying directly underneath... Hmmm.. Must be a trap.

Damocles 8 Grab the Damocles Key on the floor and run like mad. A cutaway scene shows the chandelier above you crashing to the floor impaling the stone. NASTY! Another cutaway scene shows a turnstile above the door unwinding and the door slamming shut. Another cutaway scene shows the floor in the other room turning into a blade chamber with cycling retractable floor traps. Go around the back of the pillars for the small medipack.

Damocles 9 The only way out, seems to be going up. There is a wall lever, inside one of the high wall openings by the entrance to the other room. Go along the back wall and fnd the broken stone ramp. High up on the wall is a grapple point. Run up the ramp and use the grapple [square]. Grab the ring and swing-run across the wall. Release at the top of your run and leap to grab the ledge. Pull up to the platform. From the corner look out over the room.

Damocles 10 Take a running jump from the corner to the stone catwalk in the middle. Walk around to the right. Jump to the broken pillar then jump to the wall opening with the metal grate. Pull the floor lever. A cutaway scenes shows one floor square of blades retracting into the floor. Safety-drop down to the floor and go through the archway to the other room. Walk very slowly into the room. An overhead sword slams into the floor in front of you. YIKES!!

Damocles 11 Tilt your sreen camera up to the ceiling as far as it will go. Look at the squares. Look for any squares that are open with a big sword tip dangling down. They will be touble. Nothing right now. The path up the right side is clear. Walk up to the blade traps. Watch the blade squares as they cycle. There's a path thru the blades to get to the front of the room by the door. When the blades closest to you disappear, walk on the white grate [X].

Damocles 12 As the squares open up in front of you (like chess moves), quickly move to the next open white grate. The path will lead you to a spot between 2 pillars. Once clear of the blades, look up to the ceiling again. Lara now has 7 overhead swords to deal with. Walk carefully around the front of the room and trip all 7 ceiling swords. This way, if you have to come through this way again, it will be one less worry. Go down the right side of the room.

Damocles 14 Climb onto the small broken pillar. Leap to the stone wall ledge. Jump up and shimy to the left. Pull up inside the wall opening with the metal grate. Pull the lever. A cutaway scene shows another square of blades retracting and the blades on the other side of the metal grate (the artifact is now available). Jump to the shiny alabaster pole. Shimy all the way up. Turn the screen camera to line-up behind the stone pillar in the room. Jump to the pillar.

Pull up to the top of the pillar. Run jump to the next pillar. Jump to the right and grab the other alabaster pole. Jump to the other wall opening. Pick-up the large medipack. At this point you have 2 choices. Safety drop down to the floor and go back into the other room and climb the back wall to the overhead catwalks, to retrieve artfact 5/6 in the wall opening, or continue ahead.

Damocles 15 From the wall opening, jump to the stone wall ledges on the right. Climb up and to the left. Look for the overhead wall hook [square]. Use the grapple and swing run across the wall to the top of your arc. Release and jump left (a little trickey) and grab the stone pillar. Pull-up. Jump across the pillars to the far wall. Run jump to the far wall ledge [X]. Jump to the right, grab the next ledge then jump to the recessed terrace above the door.

Damocles 16 Walk to the mechanism and push the turnstile round and round til the overhead door beneath you is completely open. Release the turnstile and quickly safety drop down to the floor and run out the exit (while the door starts to close). Walk onto the pressure plate. The door stops, reopens and locks into place. If you want, NOW you can back safely to get the artifact. Go down the hallway to the gate room. Pull the wall lever.

Damocles 17 Eventhough it looks tempting, don't walk through the gate with the spears. It's not quite wide enough for Lara to pass. Instead, grab the metal flange, ride up with the gate and on the 4th drum beat, jump to the overhead wall opening. Crouch through and safety drop to the floor. Walk out through the archway back to the labyrinth. A stone platform releases and extends into the room. The lamplights by the archway start to light up with mist.

Note Lara's Tomb Raider Legend outfit. I am replaying this level and have unlocked this item after collecting a number of artifacts.

SAVE GAME as you cross the checkpoint under the arch. The jump back to the central structure could be hazardous. At this point, you can climb down to the bottom and insert your key into the receptacle to release a sword.
