Ripto's Rage

Autumn

Loonie the Faun explains that the earth shapers have set off the volcano. Your job is to cap the volcano. (and you thought your job was easy?) The talisman is awarded by Bippo once you do that. Like in Fracture Hills, the earth shapers can't be killed directly, but they can be head-butted backwards onto a red "x" marked in the ground, where a nearby faun will take care of them for you. These are fun to watch.

Magma Cone 1 The little earthshaper wannabees that throw stones, are pretty fast and you need to charge head-butt them. Flaming doesn't work at all. You'll also notice there are a number of wall ladders to climb on the center volcano. Once you get to the center cone and cross the overhead bridge to the elevator chamber, Moneybags yet again, asks for 200 gems. Before you go in, over on the right, are 3 glass bottles sitting high on a ledge for extra lives. Jump on the elevator pad, travel down the mine shaft, save your game, and prepare for a tough, wall-climbing sequence.

Magma Cone 2 Avoiding the lava boulders is a matter of timing. Climb to the top, moving left, climbing to the top of each ladder, then jumping to the next ladder, before the boulders come down the side. As you approach the very top, the lid closes automatically and you get the talisman. You'll need the superfly power-up from the bridge, to get back to the exit. The 1st orb challenge is in the volcano area where you spit 12 lava balls at the party animals. To grab a lavaball, you need to fly over the top half of any one of the steam geysers in the lava river. You'll hear Spyro swallow the ball. Lock and load.

talisman The 2nd and 3rd orb challenges are back in the start area in the center of the cone. You will have to soar over to the ladders from the ledge, to get in. Hunter challenges you to race against him to pick up 5 and then 15 gem crystals that are pushed out of cracks in the floor, by moving steam vents. The winning secret is to steal the crystals from Hunter as he is just about to grab them, by leaping in front of him.
