Dark Caves

Dark Caves 1 Sly is going to explore the caves to find Guru's Magical Moonstone and Walking Stick. The DINGO MINERS are fearful of the Guru's magic, so they buried the artifacts DEEP in the mines. Work your way from the starting point, across the ramps to the mine entrance. Walking inside the mine, you know this not going to be an easy journey. Walk out to the cave and the deep abyss. All you can see is the 3 rotating drill towers. Look for blue sparkle lights along the tower support arms.

Dark Caves 2 Flip jump across the abyss and ninja spire land on the nearby drilling rig arm as it spins by the cave entrance. Stay on the arm while it spins. As it approaches a support arm of the next drilling dig, flip jump across and stick the landing on the next drilling rig. Again, wait for the rig to spin around and jump to the last drilling rig support arm. As the support arm moves to the back of the cave, jump off to the broken railroad track. DON'T DISTURB THE DINGO. Sneak up behind him first.

Dark Caves 3 Pickpocket the guard of all his wealth, then use the silent obliteration move to take him down. Look to the nearby rock outcrop. Jump to the rock climbing hook and spring up to the platfrom. Watch the rotating drill rigs as they pass by. Look for the blue sparkle lights on the VERY TIPS OF THE DRILL BITS. Ninja spire jump to the point of a drill bit as it zooms by. Stay on the drill point all the way around to the other side of the abyss. Watch for another drill bit coming up from below.

Dark Caves 4 While your drill bit is moving down, jump in mid-air and ninja spire land on a drill bit point coming up on the next drilling rig. Stay on the edge of the drill bit and ride it all the way around to the other side. You'll avoid the guards standing watch below. As the drill rig starts to go down, jump to the small rock platform at the end. Follow the broken rail tracks to another rock climbing hook. Jump to the hook, pull down and spring up to the upper platfrom. Find your way to the cave.

Dark Caves 5 The good news is NO DINGOS OR KANGAROOS! The bad news... moving floor lasers. Hop skip across the floor laser beams to the end of the cave. Look for the small combo vault on the floor to the right. This is where they are keeping Guru's moonstone. Time for serious safe-cracking!

Dark Caves 6 Same routine as in Venice when we bust out Dimitri. Using the LEFT analog stick, slowly spin the tumbler TO THE RIGHT. Keep spinning til you feel the vibration in the controller (blue shock waves on the screen). STOP. Gently turn the tumbler TO THE LEFT until you feel the vibration in the controller again. STOP AGAIN. Now turn the tumbler TO THE RIGHT until you feel the vibration. TA! DA! The safe unlocks. Grab the moonstone.

Dark Caves 7 UHOH! The moonstone is booby-trapped with a mystical detonation timer now that it's been disturbed. Sly has to get it outside into the daylight, to stop the moonstone from reacting. We're on a timer to get out. Hop across the lasers and at the edge of the cave, jump to the right. Rock climb up the next outcrop to the tunnel. Run past all the guards and ninja spire jump to the rock icicles. Jump to the jammed drilling rigs. Jump across to the cave exit.

Dark Caves 8 THAT WAS CLOSE! We have the moonstone safely in our possession. Now it's on to get Guru's walking stick. Bentley breaks-in and relays the co-ordinates into Sly's binocucam [R3] for the other mine entrance. Light-up the bullseye target searchlight. Work your way across the platforms and roof tops to get to the 2nd mine entrance. JUST TO BE SAFE, I avoided contact with the patrolling dingo miner guards. I wasn't sure I would keep the moonstone, should I die on the way?

Dark Caves 9 YIKES! This mine is dark. There is next to no lighting. The only lighting we have is the glow from the Guru's moonstone. Just enough to see about 10-20 feet ahead. Ninja spire to the rail. This is a slippery rail (slide rail). Sly will have to hop up the rail to get to the upper railroad track. Walk to the end of the tracks. Look for the overhead hooks spinning on a carousel.

Dark Caves 10 Wait for a hook to come by on the overhead cable. Jump and grab the hook. Stay suspended from the hook and take a ride on the carousel. As it rounds the end of its line, jump across to a hook on the next carousel and take it all the way around. Jump to the last carousel. As you get close to the railroad tracks, jump down to safety. Run up inside the cave and go to the safe.

Dark Caves 11 Same routine as in the last mine to get the moonstone. Using the LEFT analog stick, slowly spin the tumbler TO THE RIGHT. Keep spinning til you feel the vibration in the controller (blue shock waves on the screen). STOP. Gently turn the tumbler TO THE LEFT until you feel the vibration in the controller again. STOP. Now turn the tumbler TO THE RIGHT until you feel the vibration. TA! DA! The safe unlocks. Grab the walking stick.

Dark Caves 12 NOT AGAIN? The guru's walking stick is also booby-trapped with magic. We need to get it oustide before the timer runs out. To make things worse, SECURITY IS COMING! We'll have to deal with them along the way. Run down the tracks. Whack the dingos and kangaroos off the tracks as fast as you can. Jump across the gaps and climb up the broken rails. Slide down the bent slippery rails. Avoid the last set of guards in the tunnel and run out the cave entrance. JOB COMPLETE.
