Sly 3 Honor Among Thieves

An Opera of Fear
OP: Tar Be Gone

Tar Be Gone 1 THIS IS IT! The final end-game to take down Octavio. All the promotional ads are now gone, so no-one is showing up to Octavio's opera recital? The next phase is to shut-down the tar pumps under Octavio's palace. Once that's done, at least Venice will be safe from further environmental pollution and Murray's quest will be fulfilled. Once the pumps are stopped, Bentley will take-on Octavio in a duel of opera singing. That will be interesting? Sly will hit him with the chandelier.

Tar Be Gone 2 The first job is to get inside Octavio's palace. Load your guard disguise and waltz over to the palace entrance. You'll need the password to get in (of course). Bentley relays in with the 4 button combo. Once inside, more passwords. The guards are milling about the fountain, and walking by each one, requires a new password combo. Make your way across the room and down the stairs to the basement. The guards down here, you can tip-toe past, but there's a surprize waiting?

Tar Be Gone 3 YIKES! It's Octavio himself. Luckily he doesn't recognize Sly in his guard disguise, and thinks he's one of his security staff. Good thing... Sly needs access to the door and low-and-behold, Octavio of all people, is going to help him. Using the combo partner unlock with Octavio, open the door, and make your way down to the basement. Bentley is standing by, on the other side of a fence. Unlock the gate and let him in.

Tar Be Gone 4 This will be a true tag-team operation, but GAMEPLAY will be Bentley. Sly will be beating on the guards while you do your dirty work. Bentley has to use his remote detonator bombs and blow the 6 tar valves. Of course this is not going to be easy. Each valve will take 3 bombs to destroy and must be placed in close range. The challenge is maneuvering Bentley's wheelchair close enough to the valve, while counter-acting the spin of the turntables and beating off attacking guards.

Tar Be Gone 5 Work around the outside of the room first. Blow up the valves against the wall by the stair well. This way you won't be cornered by any guards that come running, once they hear the explosions. Make sure you have lots of space to maneuver, and try to keep Sly in close quarters while planting the bombs. You don't want to take any beating while planting bombs. Use your wheelchair tricks if you have to. Tap [R3] to find the valves (green bullseye targets), that still need to be destroyed.

Tar Be Gone 6 The toughest valve is on top of the turbine. You'll need Bentley's booster pack to hop to the frame to place a bomb. The bomb placement HAS TO BE PERFECT! If you plant a bomb by mistake, on the turbine drum, the bomb will spin on the frame and detonate away from the valve. Once the last valve is blown, the turbine ruptures and stops. [Movie sequence begins] Bentley and Sly are pleased with the results and now go to Plan B. Bentley is about to make his singing debut!

Tar Be Gone 7 [Movie sequence continues] Octavio walks up to the stage. No-one from town has shown up to listen to his opera? Bentley's sitting at a table nearby. Octavio is alarmed to see MR. TOMATO FERTILIZER, but accepts his challenge to a singing duel. What Octavio doesn't know, is that while they're singing on stage, Sly will be overhead, cutting the support wires to the chandelier.

Tar Be Gone 8 Singing with Octavio, IS NOT PRETTY.. but is relatively easy? Gameplay is similar to the tango dance sequences that Sly did with Carmelita and Neyla, back in Rajan's Palace, in Band of Thieves. Watch the button sequences as they come across the bottom of the screen. When the screen flips and the questions marks appear, enter the button combo as the bouncing ball moves across from left to right. Simple really. The combos are not all that difficult, but is time-consuming?

Tar Be Gone 9 Octavio not only goes down in defeat, but Sly manages to knock him down with the chandelier. [Movie sequence begins] Octavio is madder than heck and escapes to a passing gondola. UHOH! Carmelita shows up and starts firing her stun gun. She's in no mood for fun, and wants these criminals rounded up. Sly and Bentley jump to a gondola and go after Octavio down the canals.

Tar Be Gone 10 This chase sequence is VERY TOUGH!!! Octavio is driving fast and getting in your way, lots of new obstacles. There are police boats blocking the canal, along with the regular parked gondolas, which you have to jump over. Octavio also throws floating land mines that you have to avoid, or blow-up, using precious machine gun time. Octavio also has moving laser traps that he deploys from time to time. Make it past all these barriers, and blow him up before you get blown up!

Tar Be Gone 11 You would think that after all this, he'd be done? NO... He's back for more.. Murray steps into the picture. Octavio has made a serious mistake by knocking Bentley out of his wheelchair. Murray's mad (mad enough to give up his Guru's training) and is going to make Octavio pay! THIS IS YOUR BASIC FISTFIGHT TO THE FINISH! Sly will help you out, by pouring tar onto the situation to slow down Octavio. Make good use of your time and punch him repeatedly. He won't give in easily.

Tar Be Gone 12 When Octavio gets beaten down to about half his health, Murray and Sly will have to run into the main town square, to find another arena with tar. Along the way, smash the tables and chairs around town, for valuable HEALTH power-ups. FIGHT HIM TO THE FINISH in the town square. He'll throw all sorts of singing stun waves and power belly flops that will cause Murray lots of injury, but you can survive, if you hit him at the right moment, when he's setting up for a move.

[Movie sequence begins] Octavio goes down in defeat and lies there in the town square. Murray is back to his normal self again, and feels invigorated by the victory of the fight. He sheds his costume and returns to his customary clothes. The gang is reunited once again! Of course, Carmelita arrives late, as usual, but just in time to arrest Octavio and throw him in jail. MISSION COMPLETE.
