In the opening frame, Spyro and Sparx are on a pedestal island high off the ground. Fly and glide to the islands and walk into the forest through the stone arch.
I think the look of Spyro scares the heck out of some of the natives. One of the natives sees you coming through the stone tunnel and runs away screaming. Walk down the narrow path. Around the first corner to the left, tribal natives come out to challenge you. These guys are a little tougher than what you're used to, but a few good flames and head butts will do the trick. The trick is to engage both of these guys at the same time to keep them occupied.

Scattered all over the many islands of Tall Plains, you'll find these pottery urns lying about everywhere. They are not to be overlooked. Smashing them with a head butt will give more gems and a little more energy. They are not as powerful as the spirit crystals (which are also here), but they can add some much needed fire power when you are rundown.

Wander down the first hollow tree trunk. You'll notice that the tall grass and ferns will give you an ambush advantage. You can barely be seen walking through the grass because you're small? At the end, you're first real battle. Tribal natives are waiting in the small courtyard. A larger tribal leader is high on a ledge at the back. He of course, has a supply of dynamite which he will continue to toss down into the courtyard, unless you get a chance to get rid of him.
Clear-out all the natives, collect all the gems, and avoid being injured by the exploding dynamite. you may want to go after the tribal leader NOW. Get as close as you can. Do a high jump [X+X] then at the top of your jump, shoot a fireball [triangle] at the big guy. If you have the right distance, he will take damage. If you haven't already, this would be a very good time to level UP your secondary fire power from the [start menu]. Take him down with 6 fireballs.
Don't leave just yet? You still have work to do. Along the far left wall you'll see a stone block. Jump on top of the block. Do a powerslam [X+X+O] to knock the block into the ground. [movie sequence begins] A nearby column of stones start to rise up from the ground. Hmmm.. Looks like a puzzle. There will be more of these blocks as you go deeper into the temple. Look around the entire courtyard area for pottery.
Walk down the next tree trunk tunnel. Watch out for the poison dart cannon at the other end. Once the native sees you, he'll start to fire. This is the perfect time to use your fireball. Stay just out of range of the darts and throw a few fireballs at the turret. You'll see his health meter go down if successful. A few good hits and the cannon turret explodes. Go collect the gems. Jump down and go to the left. NOTE: There are spirit crystals on a high ledge straight ahead.
More roadblocks. These ones are dangerous. As soon as you walk near, poison dart blocks in the walls will start to fire across the path in both directions. Yikes! Carefully watch the rhythm of the darts then sneak past them. Don't try to jump or flame the bamboo spears. They will injure you badly. Head butt to smash them. OR.. from a safe distance, use an upgraded fireball to blast the way clear. Even if you take a little injury from the darts, you'll recover.
Take care of the natives down in the second courtyard. Look for 2 more stone blocks and powerslam then into the ground. 2 more stone columns will rise up out of the ground in the first courtyard area. Go back up the steps and to the left.
As you walk up the path, you come to an open area on the right, we meet a new enemy. This is a stone crusher. They go down a little harder and are more resistant to fire. Just make sure, he's glowing red with flame and melee him a few times. He'll go down. [movie sequence begins] Off in the distance, some locals are being held inside cages. Once of them is clan member Cane. Spyro frees him from the cage, but Cane is not thankful, and says to get out of his way.
Unfortunately, we can't get away that easy? A tribal leader comes running out. He's gonna be a bit tougher than the last big guys we had to fight. Again. flame him to get him glowing red, then melee combo him [X+OOO] before he goes normal. Watch out for his hammer (and he will hit). Keep at it until he goes down. You may find that just continually flaming him is a better option. He'll probably empty out your power tank. You will recover with his gems.
Once done, go back into the temple to the left to the high ledge. You'll now be high above the first courtyard. Jump and glide to the top of the larger stone columns on the left. Look up. There are spirit crystals on a high ledge. Jump across the columns and go across the top of the tree trunk on the right. There is a small alleyway at the end on the left. Jump down. A new enemy. Rolling armadillos come out to challenge you. Just go ahead and flame and kick them.
Another open courtyard. This one hae a wooden teeter totter in the middle that we have to get on. Take care of the natives with a few fireballs to soften them up. Go down into the lower area and powerslam the 2 stone blocks. Jump on the blocks (like they were steps) and jump to the top of the wooden log. As you move back and forth, it will tilt forward and back. Go to the back and tip it up. Now run, jump and glide to the high ledge at the back. Go to the left.
This is a long tunnel, with natives and a tribal leader blocking the way. To make matters worse, there are hidden spear pits below diguised with leaves, in between each platform in the tunnel. Go ahead and use fireballs to soften up your enemies, then fly and glide across to finish them. Go get the spirit crytsals up on the left. The tribal leader will try to interfere by throwing dynamite in these close quarters, so work quickly if you can.
Once the fighting is over, go out through the arch and take care of the stone crusher and then a dreadwing will also challenge. Take care of business.
