Spyro A New Beginning





Minecart Mayhem 1 [movie sequence begins] The local warrior boss is angry! He chews out the trolls working in the area and tells them that they can't be late. Cynder is expecting these crystals and they have to head for the volcano NOW. He climbs aboard the train and heads off into the fire chamber. The door locks tight behind him. A panoramic view of the area shows 3 door pins being locked by 3 levers. OK. Spyro knows what he has to do to follow that train.

Minecart Mayhem 2 Up ahead is a lava cannon turret. He shoots a stream of lava at you. NOT GOOD! From a safe distance, use your fire bombs [triangle] and toss 2-3 right at the turret. You may have to experiment with your aim. Watch his health meter in the upper right hand corner. He'll go down and explode. Collect his gems and the nearby spirit crystals. Walk up the makeshift railway track ramp to the top. Head butt the lever in the middle of the platform. 1 door pin releases.

Minecart Mayhem 3 Walk back down the ramp to the first round platform. Look over to the other side of the track. A warrior is standing guard over another lever. From here, shoot 2-3 fire bombs to soften him up, then fly and glide over to his position. Flame him and melee combo him til he disappears. Head butt the 2nd lever. Another door pin releases. One more to find. Walk down the railway track picking up any gems and crystals along the way. Find the next ramp.

Minecart Mayhem 4 Walk up the ramp to the very top. There are 4 trolls and one warrior blocking your way to the last lever on a very small platform. You can use any of your favorite powers here, but I chose something different. My blue energy ring was fully loaded, so I opted for the Electric Fury [R2]. I ran into the middle of the platform with all the enemies surrounding me, and BOOM!! (I love the visual effects of the Fury). Whack the last lever. [movie sequence begins].

Minecart Mayhem 5 Spyro jumps into a nearby mine cart and zooms off into the fire chamber through the now-opened door. The next thing we know, we're zooming down a tunnel on nothing more than a go-cart. The object of the game is to blow-up the caboose and then out-run the engine, all in a twisty winding, tunnel of railway tracks deep in the mines. Speed-up and close-in on the caboose [R1], take a few whacks or fire bomb the crystal cargo in the hopper, then back off.

Minecart Mayhem 6 Driving Spyro's minecart is not all that hard. Use the left joystick to turn left and right on the track. Actually... all you do is tip the minecart in the right direction so you don't veer off the track. The key is to attack the caboose. Do what you can to speed up and catch the caboose. When you do, make the most of it and blow-up the load as best you can. You can see the caboose health meter in the upper right hand corner.

Minecart Mayhem 7 At a few select points, the caboose and engine veer off on another track. Spyro is riding on the closest track. Stay a little behind the speed of the caboose. Use your fire bomb and aim at the caboose (hopefully a few direct hits). The train and Spyro come back together for another run down the track. It may take 2-3 passes for the caboose to blow up. Keep at it!

Minecart Mayhem 8 Once the caboose is gone, Spyro will race ahead of the engine. Now we have to stay ahead of the engine. Hold down [R1] and outrun him. You will be seeing Spyro from in front, so you'll have to react to the changes in direction in the track, as they happen. Be quick with the joystick so you don't crash. Eventually, you'll blow through the final doorway and the race is over. GOOD JOB!
