[movie sequence begins] Ignitus leads Spyro and Sparx into the dragon temple. Ignitus goes into a long story about the history and tradition of the temple and how scared the place really is. Home sweet home.
Ignitus and Spyro walk to the back of the temple and then down the steps outside. There they view the outer world and all the islands. Ignitus explains about how he is the last Guardian dragon that managed to escape from the clutches of Cynder, and the only hope is for Spyro to help. The other 3 Guardian dragons need to be saved and especially Volteer, who is currently being held captive in Dante's Freezer.

Be forewarned! Do not take this training lightly. It is not as easy as you think. The combination melee moves that you learn are difficult and will require patience.
The first sets of training are basic moves to understand how to maneuver and use ONLY your flame breath. The most difficult of these moves is the multiple melee moves which involve the [circle] button to first toss an enemy into the air, then using [X then R1] to throw an enemy or [3 circles] to do a mid-air thrash. The trick is to wait for the onscreen button markers to light-up then execute. You will also hear a small ping when the button action is ready.
The next set of melee moves is against the clock and will require close to precise execution. Be patient! In the multiple execution trials, focus on one set of moves at a time. Don't worry about the timer ticks getting higher and higher (because you know time is running out). You will be able to retry these exercises as many times as you need to, and unfortunately you can't skip a step or even save game at this point.
Now comes a new move, the fireball throw [triangle]. In these exercises, use [X] to jump in the air, then [triangle] to throw the fireball. The higher Spyro jumps [X+X], the farther the fireball goes. A very good defense mechanism for far away enemies, or for destroying TNT chests or other explosive items (without getting hurt). This fireball can be upgraded using the [start] menu. It will become more explosive over time. Go through the 3 sets of exercises.
Now the ultimate fire-power. Fire Fury [R2] can ONLY be used when Spyro has a full blue power ring in his health meter in the upper left-hand corner. It's to be used ONLY when you're in a melee jam and have no way to escape. It's the equivalent to an atom bomb and will clear-out ALL enemies within range. Unfortunately, the power takes a long time to recharge (by killing enemies), so use it wisely.

[movie sequence begins] Now that the training is done, Ignitus is full of hope once again. He takes Spyro and Sparx back to the entrance room and they gaze into the dream pool. Ignitus knows that the path ahead will be filled with danger. He fears that Cynder has gathered enough energy to forge another power crystal, which is not good. Spyro finds out he can fly. Ignitus shows him the way and Spyro begins to take flight. Sparx is in disbelief.
