Before fighting the boss for this level, a little housekeeping. In the courtyard, 2 very large commander trolls with shock hammers. When they slam their ice hammer to the ground, make sure to jump over the shock wave. Take them down with fire bombs or tornado fury [triangle] to slow them down enough to beat on them. Fire bomb the 2 electric cannons next. Stay a safe distance away and blow them both up. Go get their gems for power.

Once everything goes quiet, attention turns to the castle. [movie sequence begins] A large warrior emerges from the door to the castle. He's the same size as the Ice King, but looks a little more dangerous. He yells and screams but stays at the top of the stairs (to defend Cynder's castle?). OK.. let the fight begin. Run up the stairs almost to the top, and start the combat with a few fire bombs [triangle]. Watch his health meter to make sure you hit him.

HINT: No point firing on him while his spherical shield is up. Wait for his shield to go down. Electricity magic doesn't work very well here, so stay with "fire" power.

While he's in a daze from the fire bombs and his shield is down, run up the steps. Use your fire breath and tail whack him hard for as long as you can, before he regains his strength. When his shield goes up, quickly run down the steps and avoid the flying crystal shards that explode everywhere. When he gets a little weaker and his shield goes down from your bombing, go up right beside him and use your fire fury [R2] (hopefully you haven't used it and it's fully charged).

This probably won't be quite enough to get him down for good, but you should be on the 3rd and final health bar. Once you get him there, look for stray gems on the steps and power-up your fire as best you can. Wait for his shield to go down and flame and whack away (even if he injures you with his sword). KEEP AT IT! He eventually goes down in defeat leaving tons of gems (enough to fully re-power). WELL DONE! Walk into the castle.
