[movie sequence begins] A nearby sentry tower inside the fortress starts to arc with electricity. Spyro is caught in the crossfire and a bolt of lightning strikes the ground and shocks Spyro with extreme force. He's stunned for a minute then starts to snort sparks of electricity as he shakes off the trauma of what happened. Spyro now has a special second power that may come in handy? This is available both as a standard breath [square] and as a power-up [triangle].
To toggle between fire breath and electricity use the directional pad on the controller and look for the symbol inside the power bar (upper lefthand corner). ALSO.. go into the [start menu] and look for the section called level up. In this menu, you will see the various powers Spyro has available to him. You can power-up any of the main firepowers or the special [triangle] powers. The pool on the left is the spirit energy you've collected so far. Use it wisely.
So let's try out this new power? 3 royal guards come running from the tower. See how they react when you shock them with electricity. As each one gets paralyzed, whack them with your tail or head butt them til they disappear. ONE PROBLEM! The guards don't go away? They keep coming and coming no matter what you do. Knock the nearby tree and while fighting these bad guys, nudge an iceball into the nearby catapult and fire on the tower. 3 iceballs will do the job.

Don't forget to break all the spirit crystals on the right. Power-up whatever you can. Go inside the fortress to the next open area. The gates ahead open and a series of 4 royal guards come out for a fight. To make matters worse, 2 royal warriors are right behind you and they're a little bigger. Time for a fight. Do your best to move around and focus on one at a time. If all seems lost, you should have enough power in your energy ring to use your Fire Fury [R2].
If you don't have quite enough energy to use the Fire Fury, go the bank and break all the spirit crystals NOW. You will be facing another set of enemies shortly, and they are bigger and tougher. Once you're done with this group, 2 very large royal commanders come out to play. They are tough! Best move is the air melee [X+OOO]. Don't forget that you also have to face the skeleton version of them as well. And if that's not enough, 6 trolls come out afterwards.
Once you have survived this, go through the gates and to the left. Break down the wooden beams blocking your way and tip-toe around the camp. The guard ahead, sees you coming and scurries off. Follow him onto the bridge. As you walk onto the bridge, the gate behind you closes. This is not good? 2 Dreadwings flying overhead, drop a cargo of trolls that explode on the bridge. Fight your way through the mess and eventually the gate at the other end opens.
More trouble! A commander troll and a few goons, are waiting for you at the other end. Use your fireball from the bridge, and peg the commander a few times. If you soften him up a bit before you go into the next area, you'll have a fighting chance. Take care of the big guys first, then go after the other trolls. When the area is cleared out, hunt around for the spirit crystals along the right and behind the kettle fire. Go into the narrow passage on the right.
Yikes! This looks like trouble. The tunnel is lined with icicles on the ceiling all the way down. You can't bring them down with a fireball. As Spyro walks down the path, the icicles start to fall. STOP! Don't try to outrun the falling icicles. Best just to stay put and take a little damage now. It's just a nick. Wait for all the icicles to disappear then walk down the path to the end. [movie sequence begins] Some trolls are alerted to you coming and run for cover.
Big mistake! One of the trolls blows up the barracks. So, as always, go down into the courtyard and take care of business. Fight off all the trolls and make sure you collect loose gems. You want to keep your health up as much as possible. check your levelup meter often! You may be able to upgrade your fire breath sooner then you think. Any more firepower makes faster work of your enemies (and they will be getting tougher). Look for spirit crystals.
In the next gated area another fight is brewing. The gates close behind you. More royal guards and for added measure, first 1 trojan buffalo and then after that, another wave with 2 trojan buffalos. Use your melee move to your advantage (they don't move much), and make sure you kill off enough enemies to keep your power levels going. They go down easier than you think. Once the area is finally clear, and you catch your breath with crystals, go into the next area.
This is definitely some trouble! 3 royal commanders are waiting to pounce on you. PATIENCE! You'll probably die once or twice using up all your magic power to get rid of these guys. They are relentless, and of course once you beat them, they morph into hatchet-wielding skeletons that will injure you severely. Don't worry. Should you die, you come back to this place and your enemies are already worn down. Once clear, break through the fence and go into the fort.
