Spyro

This is one of the most creative scenery levels in the game. The sparkling frosted ice and visual effects are really something and give you the shivers from feeling the "virtual" cold. OK.. so you know the baddies are going to throw snowballs or icy something.. The perfect time to use the flame to THAW THINGS OUT.

Ice Cavern 1 The giant overgrown penguins are no match for a flame from far away, but the little guys have a quick arm with the snowballs. Charge them as soon as you see them. Work your way around the left, past the 1st dragon, through the hall to the 2nd dragon. On the left, are a series of platforms which will give you access to the giant outdoor lookout by gliding across. Collect all the gems and remember that silver gem chest. There must be a key somewhere to open it. Continue your way down past all the Big Norcs to the 3rd dragon, then through the triangular hall.

Ice Cavern 2 One of the simple rules of this level is to STAY ON THE PATH. Don't try to make impossible leaps to ledges or pillars. This is a large level. You will eventually get to all the balconies. The flying bats are butterflies to Sparx. Go all the way to the end to the 4th dragon and the RETURN HOME vortex, but again don't go in just yet. There is another set of rooms through the hall behind the vortex. You'll clean that out later. The next set of moves are the MOST DIFFICULT JUMPS of the entire game so far. Save your game first.

Ice Cavern 3 This requires precise hop-jumps from post to post [left photo] all the way around to the other side. If you fall, you'll go down the abyss or start over, so being lazy is not an option. Jump around the circle, glide to the balcony on the left. There are more rooms, caves and snowball throwers (but this time on skis and faster). All the lamp posts are disguised as gems. Then free the last dragon. Go to the room below, collect the 2 free men on a nearby ledge, backtrack to the gem chest, glide to the island to get the key, backtrack again, collect the gems, then back again to RETURN HOME.

There are 5 dragons to free in this level. Their wisdom is as follows:

ULRIC = Reminds Spyro NOT to charge the large enemies.
TODOR = Explains that Big Norcs wearing armor get slippery feet when flamed.
ANDOR = Has nothing to say other than Thank-you for releasing him.
ASHER = Has nothing to say other than Thank-you for releasing him.
RAGNAR = Rewards Spyro with words of encouragement for doing so well.
