Up Your Arsenal

Starship Phoenix

The VR Simulation Deck is located right near Ratchet's living quarters. It's a combat arena testing ground with various challenges, where Ratchet can work on weapon skills, or try new weapons before buying them.

Starship Phoenix 7 VR #1 - Warm up:

This is exactly what it say, a warm up. Ratchet can use any weapon from his arsenal or just whack away with the omniwrench. 5 rounds with robot droids that throw flame throwers and bomb grenades. Nothing fancy. Each round has pop-up ammo crates (like the arena challenges) so ammo is not an issue. 1st completion = 500 bolts. Subsequent completions = less bolts.

Starship Phoenix 8 VR #2 - Don't Look Down:

Another warm up challenge. Ratchet can again use any weapon. I chose to stick with the N60 Storm. I felt it was better to upgrade one weapon quickly. The twist to this challenge is the floor. In rounds 2 to 6 sections of the floor disappear, so Ratchet is confined to spaces or forced to jump between platforms. 1st completion = 500 bolts. Subsequent completions = less bolts.

Starship Phoenix 9 VR #3 - Speed Round:

Timer Challenge. Destroy 2 rounds of robots in under 1 minute. The secret here is to blast away and don't stop. I chose the N60 Storm again. Once the first round is finished, run up to one of the replicating tanks as it materializes more drones. Once the tank lifts, you have 5-6 drones to peg right away. 1st completion = 400 bolts. Subsequent completions = less bolts.

Starship Phoenix 8 VR #4 - Hot Stepper:

This is another challenge where different floor sections disappear from round to round. 8 rounds of mayheim. The difference here is there are alot more drones and they can hover acress the open chasms. Ammo crates are still available so stick with one weapon. Watch your health. You have to live through 8 rounds. 1st completion = 700 bolts. Subsequent completions = less bolts.

Starship Phoenix 10 VR #5 - 90 Second Slayer:

Another timer challenge. Destroy all the drones in 3 rounds under 1:30 or 90 seconds. There are lots and lots of drones. It may be too much to handle with just the N60 Storm, but it's great with the Plasma Whip, because the tail of the lethal whip catches so many swarming drones with just 2-3 close strikes. 1st completion = 1000 bolts. Subsequent completions = less bolts.

Starship Phoenix 8 VR #6 - The Shocker:

3 rounds of drones and moving floors using only the Shock Blaster A little harder then you think because THERE ARE NO AMMO CRATES, and you have 35 bullets to get through all 3 rounds. The secret is to blast in clusters. Don't waste 1 shot on 1 drone. You'll never make it. Stand by a replicator tank after each round. 1st completion = 500 bolts. Subsequent completions = less bolts.

Starship Phoenix 9 VR #7 - Wrench Beatdown:

I think this is self-explanitory? Get through 3 rounds of drones using just the OmniWrench. The trick is watching your health. You probably don't have that much Nanotech experience (maybe 20 points), so injury is crucial. Some drones do have nasty flame throwers, so use the [R1+square] Comet Strike often! 1st completion = 600 bolts. Subsequent completions = less bolts.

Starship Phoenix 11 VR #8 - Nerves Of Titanium:

The ultimate simulator battle. Swarms and swarms of drones. Time to kick a#@s! 12 rounds of mayheim with moving floors, and really fast boxing drones. Watch your back. Use up your arsenal but I loved the Plasma Whip exclusively for this battle. Ammo crates are available. 1st completion = 2000 bolts + a titanium bolt. Anything else from now on is VR gravy!

Satrship Phoenix 4

After you finish off Momma Thyrranoid on Thyrranoisis, you can come back to the Phoenix and try Helga's Hypershot Challenge.

Starship Phoenix 12 VR Gadget Training:

Ratchet uses the Hacker, to break into the invinco-lock cylinders and take down some forcefields along the obstacle course. Ratchet learns to use the Hypershot to tarzan swing across the simulator space and also to activate magento switches that open butterfly platforms. Finish the course and Helga let's you keep the Hypershot + Hacker. No bolt prize though.

Starship Phoenix 14 At the end of the training course, Ratchet gets a titanium bolt for the effort.

To get a special Skill Point: Beat Helga's Best Time, blow through the hypershot traning course in under 50 seconds.
