Up Your Arsenal

Korgon Base

After knocking out all the plasma cannon turrets and then defeating the Momma Tyhrranoid, there's one more mission to complete on Thyrranosis, but it's a voluntary one. It's a matter of pride, your love for combat and using awesome weapons. One strong recommendation.. You need to buy the Flux Rifle.

Operation Island Strike Part 1: Assault On Kavu Island

Korgon Base 32 The Thyrranoids have a stronghold on the island and have created a formidable enemy base. Our job with the help of the Galactic Rangers, is to take down the enemy shields and regain control of a captured prized combat fighter ship. Of course we can't do things the easy way with the ATV. We have to free-fall parchute down to the island. Avoid the barage of surface-to-air missles and land safely on the ground. Not surprising, only 2 Galactic Rangers land with you.

Korgon Base 33 First job is to connect the bridge link to the main enemy compound. Off to the left is a floor crank bolt. Use your wrench and turn down the bolt to lock the bridge in place. Load the Mini-turret Glove. Toss 2-3 spikes in the middle of the bridge and run back behind the Rangers. Load the N90 Hurricane and wait for company. The Rangers warn of the arrival A few robo-noids, warrior noids and 3 flying saucers. Not to mention the drop-ship that has plasma guns as well.

Korgon Base 34 Watch for heavy gun-fire in your direction. The Rangers are doing their best, but the noids want Ratchet, and think you're a better target (maybe it's a professional courtesy among robots?) Unload with the Hurricane as best you can. Once the assault wave is over, and should you be injured, load up with the 2 Nanotech health cubes nearby, before crossing the bridge. As you cross, the Rangers follow. They warn Ratchet they have word more noids are already on the way.

As the group walks into the open area, more noids materialize right in front of you. Swarms of baby noids and 5 robo-noids right behind them. Load the Plasma Whip and rodeo-whip all the baby noids. Load the Agents Of Doom and toss 2 canisters into the fire-fight. Your 8 micro-bots will go after any enemy out there. Load the N90 Hurricane and using strafe mode [L2+R2], peg down the noids while avoiding being hit by plasma fire. Reload from nearby crates, when it's quiet.

Korgon Base 36 We have a new threat. Surface-to-air missle launchers on swivel turrets. There's no way we're going to get close enough with any normal weapon, before it starts firing. To complicate things, for some reason, the Doom micro-bots don't see the threat, so they're no good. Load the Flux Rifle. Zoom-in on sniper mode and line-up the crosshairs with the missle launcher. 1 shot will do it. Stay in sniper mode, pan across and pick-off 2 robo-noids on the high ledge.

Go up top to the high ledge and grab all the goodies. From here, go back into sniper mode with the Flux Rifle (still loaded) and pick-off 4 more launchers and 2 robo-noids. It may take 2 shots for each item from this distance. Use up your ammo. Once the launchers are gone, jump down to the ground, load the N90 Hurricane and help finish the fight. The Rangers are excited that the mission is a success and the area is secured. OPERATION COMPLETE = 8,000 bolts.

Operation Island Strike Part 2: Dogfight Over Kavu Island

Korgon Base 38 In this next scenario of operations, the Thyrranoids have launched a massive air assault against the island after being breached by the Galactic Rangers. Ratchet is asked to take control of the captured hovership (back in our hands) and use the ship's weapon systems to drive back the enemy air fleet. The controls of the hovership can be awkward at first, but after a bit of practice, can be versatile. I found using the [R1] button for missle fire to be the best tactic while flying.

Korgon Base 39 The Rangers direct Ratchet to concentrate on the drop-ships bringing in ground reinforcements. They'll take care of the saucers and ground assault. We're dealing with ONLY enemy ships. Fly ahead and look for the drop-ships. Focus the rocket target rectangle on the body of any hovership and fire away. It will take several hits to take down a drop-ship, but they do eventually fall. The closer you engage the fight, the faster they fall. The Rangers warn a second wave is coming.

The second wave has enemy dropships that fire back. Dodge the missle fire and learn to fly a moving hovership while trying to take down the enemy. Survive the air attack and the Rangers will yell success. OPERATION COMPLETE = 12,000 bolts.

Operation Island Strike Part 3: Operation Thunderbolt

Korgon Base 40 The Thyrranoid enemy base on Kavu Island is protected by an impenetrable force field. While the Galactic Rangers figure out a tactical way to deactivate the field, Ratchet takes a hovership to wipe-out the Thyrranoid forces on the ground AND in the air within the compound. Similar to the second mission, flying the hovership under heavy fire is tough. Watch-out for surface-to-air missles from the swivel launchers. Make them a priority. OPERATION COMPLETE = 16,000 bolts.

Operation Island Strike Part 4: The Final Battle

Korgon Base 35 The Galactic Rangers have now succeeded deactivating the forcefield surrounding the enemy base and compound. The time has come to lead an attack force into the enemy base and destroy the Thyrranoids completely. This is a ground attack similar to the first mission, but we're going deeper into the enemy base and the noids are not going to give up without throwing all their resources into the fight. Use the N90 Hurricane + Agents of Doom + Mini-turret Glove to full advantage.

Korgon Base 37 Move over the first bridge and handle the first and second wave of noids. Use the Flux Rifle to take out the missle launcher turrets. Jump to the high ledge again, and use sniper mode to take down all the noids and launcher turrets up ahead. On the last bridge, the battle is all about flying saucers. The Mini-Turret Glove is all you need. The final area has large swivel machine gun turrets mounted on spheres. Use the Flux Rifle in sniper mode to blow-up the turrets before you eat lead.

Take down the rest of the baby noids and the job is done. The Rangers are excited that the mission is a success and the noids are finally gone. Props all the way around. OPERATION COMPLETE = 24,000 bolts. Fly back to your ship.
