Korgon Base


Korgon Base 8 After paralyzing the power generator complex, it's time to go take-out all 4 plasma cannon turrets scattered around the base. We now have a spiffy new vehicle.. a 3-wheel drive ATV. We do have help from the Q Force, eventhough it's probably blind stupidity or maybe he thinks there's bananas here? Srunch is manning the machine guns. Ok. jump in the ATV [triangle], drive and jump at full speed over the open draw-bridge to the open combat area. Drive to the right!

Operation Clean Sweep: Destroy Plasma Cannon Turret #1

Korgon Base 9 Driving the ATV is a blast. Run over the funny tall weeds for lots of bolts. Don't worry about the guard towers manned with warriors. As you drive by, Scrunch will see them, yelp, and open-up with his machine guns. He rarely faces forward when you drive. He's got your back for the most part. After Scrunch has cleaned-out all the guard towers, go to the bridge on the right. Scrunch now faces forward and starts to unload on all the baby Thyrranoids trying to ambush the ATV.

Korgon Base 10 STAY IN THE ATV!! If Scrunch can't get the babies, you can always run over them! You may have noticed that your health meter is @ 100 in the ATV meaning you have shielding protection and a far better chance than being on your own walking around. Drive down the bridge. Take-on the robo-thyrranoids by driving straight into them. Once you get the steering controls, you know how to turn on a dime and come at them time and time again. Go down the left side first.

Korgon Base 11 Run over all the robo-thyrranoids and then run over all the crates for lots of bolts. If you miss a few, jump down and whack all the crates while no enemies are around. Jump back in the ATV and go back to the entrance of the building around the front. Drive the ATV right in through the doorway and bash into the power coupling by the wall. [Movie sequence begins] The plasma cannon turret on the roof of the building collapses and explodes. Jump out and clean-up all the bolts.

Korgon Base 12 Drive back out the doorway and go to the left down the other side of the turret building. Smash into all the crates for ammo and bolts. Drive all the way to the end. There by the edge is the glow of a titanium bolt. Jump down from the ATV and grab the bolt. Jump back in the ATV, turn around and go back across the bridge. Check your bolt count. Try to get to 68,000 as quickly as possible. We want to buy the flux rifle as soon as humanly possible. LET'S GO GET TURRET #2.

Korgon Base 13 Drive the ATV over to the right down the dirt road. To the right of the large building, park the ATV next to the rock outcrop. Jump down and let Scrunch stay here for the time being. Jump up the rock ledges. 2 robo-thyrranoids and there waiting. Load the Mini-turret Glove and toss 2 spikes up ahead. You'll take some injury from enemy fire, but it's worth it. Quick-load the N90 Hurricane and help finish them off. Walk around the corner to the small canyon. Watch for sniper fire.

Korgon Base 14 Hide for cover behind a low rock. With the Hurricane still loaded, go to sniper-mode with the target ring and aim at the pedestal rock outcrops with the warrior noids standing guard. Peg them both from a distance. There's a familiar golden glow on the high pedestal rock outcrop up ahead?? Jump down to the canyon and whack all the crates. Jump back to the main ledge and load the Plasma Whip. Rodeo-whip the swarm of baby noids that come running out. YEE HAA!!

Korgon Base 15 Bounce-up the metal walls by the rock face and climb out on the upper deck. Quick-load the Mini-turret Glove and toss 2-3 spikes. A noid drop-ship hovers nearby and unloads 4 warrior-noids. Take cover by jumping back down to the lower ledge. Bounce back-up the walls and hang from the wall until you see the coast is clear. Now, jump back up to the deck. Take a running start and heli-jump over to the pedestal island and grab the edge. Pull up, grab the Big Al Trophy.

Korgon Base 16 Back on the hangar deck, things seem quiet. You know an ambush is due. Quick-load the Agents of Doom and toss a cannister across the bridge. Your micro-bots don't see any enemies yet, so lead them blindly across the bridge. 2 robo-noids jump out from the building and start to fire. Dodge the plasma fire as your micro-bots run like mad to go get em. A drop-ship then arrives with noid reinforcements. Toss another canister, let the micro-bots deploy, then quick-load the N90 Hurricane and join in the fire-fight.

Korgon Base 17 Around the corner to the left is a high platform near the plasma cannon turret. More warrior-noids are watching. Go to zoom-in sniper mode with the Hurricane and peg the 2 warriors on the turret platform. Heli-jump up to the lower ledge and hang from the edge. You can see up top, there are 2 robo-noids pacing back and forth, looking for trouble. Jump up and load the N90 Hurricane. No time for heroics. Blast away at both robots from point-blank range. Clean-out the crates.

Korgon Base 18 OK. we're real close now. The cannon turret is within reach. Heli-jump to the turret platform and gun all the enemies down with the N90 Hurricane. Go to the far side of the platform, and whack the power coupling. [Movie sequence begins] The plasma cannon turret on the platform collapses and explodes. Clean-up all the bolts and ammo. TIME FOR TURRET 3. Jump down to the ground and run back to the ATV parked by the outcrop.

Korgon Base 19 Drive the ATV back across the grounds to the main access road. Go right down the road, past the bridge. About halfway between the bridge and the far cliff, stop the ATV and jump out. To the left is a narrow path leading out over the water. Jump up to the first platform. A drop-ship hovers nearby and unloads 3 robo-noids. They're at very close range but don't detect you on the lower platform. Load the N90 Hurricane. Heli-jump up to the top platform, and kick some butt!!

Korgon Base 20 After the smoke clears, whack all the nearby crates. Up ahead on the next island, a group of warrior noids start to fire. Quick load the Mini-turret Glove and toss 2 spikes across the water to the island. The target ring should just reach the edge. Let the mini-turrets clean-out the island for you. Heli-jump across and walk around the rock outcrops to the right. Watch-out for an ambush of baby noids.. Load the Plasma Whip and rodeo-whip the whole bunch.

Korgon Base 21 Up ahead, Ratchet can see a dome-shaped room in the rock face. In that room is the power coupling for the cannon turret atop the cliff. The path is heavily guarded. Once they detect you, they'll start a barage of plasma fire that's almost unbearable. Hide behind a rock out of harm's way. Load the Agents of Doom and toss 2 canisters. 8 micro-bots will deploy and scurry down the path. They'll take down all the noids AND explode the power coupling inside the room.

EXTRA HINT: In the photo above, Ratchet is slumped over and his ears are bent. This is a visual warning that he's run-down and dangerously low on health. He could die if he takes another hit. [movie sequence begins]. The plasma cannon turret high up, on top of the cliff, collapses and explodes. TIME TO GO GET TURRET #4.

Operation Clean Sweep: Destroy Plasma Cannon Turret #4

Korgon Base 22 Jump back in the ATV and drive to the cliff. Jump out and up to the ledge. There's a Gadgetron Kiosk to load up on all your goodies and 2 Nanotech health cubes. You know getting to this turret is going to be tough. Jump on the hover pad down into the caves. Load the Mini-turret Glove, quickly toss 2 spikes (from the hover pad) between the 2 robo-noids waiting for you down below. At the bottom, run for cover behind one of the rocks and watch the fireworks.

WEAPON NOTE: If you haven't played Going Commando and didn't have access to the Mini-Turret Glove, the Agents Of Doom work well as a remote detonator.

Korgon Base 23 Heli-jump up to the next platform. Whack all the nearby crates. Quick-load the N90 Hurricane and peg any robo or warrior noid or baby that comes running out. Jump up the series of rock steps. Quick-load the Mini-turret Glove. Now jump up and hang from the high ledge. You can see where the enemies are, up top. This will give you a good idea where to strategically place the turret spikes. Jump up and toss 2-3 spikes across the platform, then run to the end of the ledge.

Korgon Base 24 Quick-load the N90 Hurricane and gun-down any noids (or the flying saucers) not destroyed by the turret-fire. Off to the left, we can see a versa-target. We'll need the Hypershot gadget to tarzan swing across to the other cave. Inside a remote cave is a titanium bolt. Remember to come back later-on in the game. Jump across the pedestal islands to the next long platform. Up top, gun down the warrior and baby noids with the Hurricane. Whack the nearby ammo crates.

EXTRA BOLTS: Whenever you get a quiet moment, go into sniper mode with the Hurricane, and shoot all the glowing honey-comb balls hanging from the ceiling.

Korgon Base 25 From the long platform, go into sniper-mode with the Hurricane and take down the 2 hovering flying saucers and the robo noid on the higher platform to the left. Heli-jump up to the platform by the left wall and gun down the warrior noid (in this photo Ratchet is hanging from that ledge). If you want, heli-stretch-jump across to the right island and grab the ammo crates and Nanotech health cube. At the end of the platform we can see the cannon turret not that far away.

Korgon Base 26 From the very end of the platform by the cave opening, load the Mini-turret Glove and toss 2 spikes down to the ground area below. The target ring should reach. Watch the missles hunt down the robo-noids and warriors. The enemy has no idea!!! Heli-glide down to the ground and clean-out any stragglers and crates with your trusty wrench. Bounce-up the metal walls to the base of the cannon turret platform. Hang from the edge and pan the camera around the platform.

Korgon Base 27 There's lots of baby noids up top. At this point, you may want to jump down and pre-load the Plasma Whip. Bounce back up the walls and out onto the platform. Engage the Plasma Whip and rodeo-whip the whole place. Chances are you'll whack the power coupling. No matter! [Movie sequence begins]. The plasma cannon turret collapses and explodes right beside you. A Ranger ship then swoops down and destroys the main entrance to the base. MISSION COMPLETE.
