Capital City Marcadia


Capital City 15 After all the Battle Missions are complete, Ratchet gets access to the armored personnel carrier. You can fly to this mission now, or you can go back to your ship. The ship is available and waiting near the star explorer launch pad at the start of the level, should you decide to leave. Let's fly to the armory.

Capital City 16 As Ratchet enters the armory, there's the glow of a hovering gadget or weapon dead ahead. Go up and grab the Refractor. The Gadgetron Help Desk Assistant breaks-in and demonstrates that the Refractor can re-direct laser light into designated receptacles and can also elminiate unwanted enemies. Baby Noids come running down the ramp as we pick-up the Refractor. Whack them with your wrench. Up top, another bigger Noid starts to fire on you. Load the N70 Storm.

Capital City 17 Once the room is cleaned-out, load the Refractor. A small energy field bubble encases Ratchet. Walk into the laser beam on the left. Ratchet is now able to point the beam from the laser in any direction. Look for a receptacle near the base of a nearby wall, next to the overhead door. Using [L1] point the beam into the box. The laser will auto-lock into the receptacle and the door opens. As Ratchet moves away, you'll see an energy ball has been created to turn the laser.

Capital City 18 As the door opens, more baby Noids come running. Jump behind the laser to lead them to you, and the Noids will burn-up as they touch the laser. NOTE: Ratchet will be injured should he accidentally walk across a laser without the Refractor loaded (not just in your Quick Select). In this room, there's a floor bolt crank. Turn the bolt with your wrench. This will realign a floor-mounted refractor dish. Load the Refractor, walk into the laser beam and re-direct the beam into the dish. Now re-direct again, to the box by the door.

Capital City 19 Work through the next 2 rooms until you reach a large corridor. Here, the laser beam is pointing up. Turn the bolt crank with your wrench and move the refractor dish til it locks. Jump to the higher platform and whack all the baby Noids. Load the Refractor and walk into the beam pointing up. Re-direct the beam down to the dish receptacle by the platform edge. As the laser hits the dish, a bridge will unfold connecting to the far side. Walk across the bridge to the next area.

Capital City 20 Load the Plasma Whip and take care of the baby Noids coming in swarms. Up ahead, a bit of a mystery. Sasha breaks-in and tells Ratchet to guide the spider up towards the spider symbol in the wall. This wilk lock and re-direct the laser to open the far door. Load the Refractor and jump to the block in the middle of the hall. Turn the laser down to the floor. Let the spider follow the laser up the wall to the spider symbol. As the spider walks over it, the laser beam connects.

Capital City 21 In the next room another laser puzzle. First go to the floor screw in the corner. Turn the bolt crank. As it turns, you can see a dish moving across the ceiling towards the door. On either side of the door, are laser receptacles. Load the Refractor first then jump to the block. There isn't enough room on top of the block to load the device up there, without injury. Up top, re-direct the laser to the dish. The laser will split into 2, lighting both receptacles, opening the door.

Capital City 22 In the next room, yet another laser puzzle. The baby Noids are easy to deal with here. Just jump over the laser, and let the Noids burn up in the laser as they try to get you. Turn the floor bolt crank and pull the dish to the far side of the room.This splits the laser into 2 red beams. Walk down each beam, load the Refractor and point each beam into the ANGLED RECEPTACLES so they activate. This releases the next door and more baby Noids come exploring. Let them burn up.

Capital City 23 This is the last room. Watch-out for baby Noids around the corner. There are metal ramps leading up the walls. We will need special gear to explore further. Probably something valuable hiding up there? Around the corner, you can see someone by a compute console. The area is guarded by a forcefield. There doesn't look to be any switch or nearby laser? Load the N70 Storm and break the flower-pots on either side of the gate. The forcefield evaporates. [Movie sequence begins].

EXTRA HINT: In the screencam photo above, make mental note of the curved metal ramps. We will back here later, once we get the Gravity Boots.

Capital City 24 Guess who? This is Roboshack Al. Our famous friend from other Ratchet adventures. He's trying to play video games on this computer console, that controls the power grid, but can't get the system to work right. Clank does though and explains the fix to Al. The system is restored and as a reward, Clank gets the Captain Qwark Vid Comic cartridge . MISSION COMPLETE. A teleport is now available, back to the Ratchet's ship.

Satrship Phoenix 4

After completing all the battle missions in Blackwater City on Rilgar, the Galactic Rangers award Ratchet a set of Gravity Boots. We're back to explore the ramps.

Capital City 30 Take the Ranger personnel carrier back to the laser defense building. Inside, you'll have to beat down the baby thyrranoids and the robo-noids again. The laser beams are already refracted in the last position they were in, when Ratchet was last here. Work your way back to the last room in the complex that has a floor crank bolt. To the left is a sloped ramp leading up to a hidden ledge. Load the Refractor before walking up the ramp. There is not much room to manuever up top.

Capital City 31 With the refractor loaded, turn and lock the beam into the receptor dish deep in the wall. Hmmm? Where does the beam go? Follow the logic and go back through 2 rooms into the long hallway. If you look up, you'll see the laser beam running along the ceiling. Along a section of wall on the left, there's another steel ramp going up the wall. Climb up the wall using your gravity boots. Load the Refractor, point and lock the ceiling beam into the rececptor dish in the wall.

Skill Point: Reflect On How To Score The 2nd time through the complex, burn up 25 enemies using the Refractor or luring the baby noids to attack and fry in the lasers.

Capital City 32 Walk down the wall and nearby a door has opened leading to a hidden room. Inside the glow of a titanium bolt. Go in and grab the bolt. Now, walk back to the very last room again, near where Al was standing at the console. In that last room is another wide metal ramp. Walk up the ramp all the way around to the ceiling. Grab the second titanium bolt. Walk back down the other side, and take the teleport pad back to the buidling entrance and the Ranger personnel carrier.
