Tools Of Destruction

Lerwan

This is a new game load. The title screen will appear again if you have completed the game and are now in challenger mode (repeat with all your weapons).

Kerwan 1 [opening movie sequence] Ratchet & Clank are in Metropolis on Planet Kerwan. Ratchet is trying to fix his hovercycle but the after-burners are not going well. Clank receives an incoming message from Captain Qwark. Seems he's held-up in some studio somewhere being attacked by cragmites. Ratchet offers to help. Of course flying doesn't go as planned and Ratchet & Clank crash-land on a nearby terrace, after colliding with a ship.

Kerwan 2 First things first. Get familiar with the controller. Left analog stick controls Ratchet's movement. Right analog stick controls the active camera. You can go into the [start] menu and under [options] change the settings of the controls. I found it easier to invert the x and y axis rather then normal (my preference). I would also play with the other settings to get a comfort level for moving round before going into your first battle. [square] is your Omniwrench.

Kerwan 3 A Ratchet game staple, the Gadgetron Help Desk, is always with you (if you want). I would leave her voice on during the game. She does give helpful hints from time to time. OK. Now for weapons. Ratchet starts with the combuster (plasma ball rifle) and fusion grenades (hand toss). Use [triangle] to see your current weapons array available. As you fill up with weapons, this will become a tactical screen. Make sure [pause] is on while selecting weapons.

Kerwan 4 Go down the walkway and confront the 4 cragmite commandos. Use your combuster. Watch for the white auto lock-on target ring as you get close. [R1] fires your current weapon. 3-4 shots should take care of each commando. Up the stairs by the statue, watch-out for a swarm of sparkbots. Don't let them get too close! They fire a nasty electrical shock that will injure Ratchet (you only have 8 nanotech health points). 1-2 shots with the combuster will do the job.

Kerwan 6 Go the left first and whack all the crates. The dark wooden crates contain bolts (currency). The blue sphere crates are Nanotech health boosters. Each crate contains 4 spheres (health points). The golden metal crates are weapon ammo reloads. The ammo it gives you could be random or from the last weapon you used. If you don't need or use the ammo, a small floating ammo orb will stay for awhile. Go right and take down the line of commandos.

Kerwan 7 After blowing up a cragmite commando, a cragmite is left behind. They're like little frogs. These guys actually sit in the head cockpit of the commando robots. Make sure you whack them for bolts as well. AND... if you leave them behind, they will distract your auto lock-on target ring to other enemies. Go inside the building and whack the crates and take care of the swarm of sparkbots out over the connecting bridge. The transport ship is too far away to shoot down, so just destroy everything else.

Kerwan 8 After all is clear and your fully loaded again from crate whacking, run across the bridge to the far building. Walk onto the meteor pad. This is a powered bounce pad that will catapult Ratchet to a different platform. Use [X] to activate the bounce. Don't use the controller while Ratchet is bouncing. This is an automated sequence. Ratchet lands on an upper terrace of a new building. Load your combuster. Jump up and in mid-air, shoot down the hovering cragmite commandos.

Kerwan 9 Use your wrench and whack all the globes & streetlamps for extra bolts. Try anything to see if it breaks. You never know where you may earn a coveted skill point. Use the bounce pad in the corner. Go to the next terrace. Take down all the sparkbots and commandos and collect all the bolts. Go to the pop-up crate vent and recharge your combuster ammo. Wait for another crate to pop-up and whack it again. DON'T GO ON THE MAG RAIL! until your combuster is fully recharged (which will take 3-4 crates).

Kerwan 10 The connecting pipes leading away from the terrace are the mag rails (or grind rails). Jump to the pipe. Ratchet will start to slide down the pipe known as rail grinding. Use the left controller stick and [X] to jump rails and [X] on its own to jump gaps and rail obstacles (power rings). Slide to the next terrace. The screen will go passive and birds eye view. Take down the commandos and collect all the bolts. Use the meteor pad at the end to land on the next building terrace.

Kerwan 11 More cragmite commandos are dropped from a nearby supply ship. Take care of business. Collect all the bolts, whack all the lights and go through the building tunnel. There's a new enemy, the cragmite hover saucer. Wait for your lock-on target ring to register on the saucer then fire away. Watch-out for the green laser beams that the cragmites fire back at you. Use [L2] to strafe left & right to avoid being hit by the lasers. Use the next set of meteor pads.

Kerwan 12 At the end of the next terrace, the screen goes passive and up to a bird's eye view. Ratchet has to cross the collapsing bridge. Weapons still work and you'll need them, but you can't stand around. Sections of the bridge will collapse behind you as they're bombed by the cragmites. Work your way across the bridge, taking down the sparkbots and commandos. Pick-up as many bolts as you can, but don't worry if you con't get everything. Walk to the terrace at the end.

Kerwan 14 Inside the large room, more enemies. Toss 1-2 fusion grenades into the middle of the room to disperse a few sparkbots. Use quick select [triangle] and load the combuster. Use strafe moves and take down the 2 hovering commandos by the exit archway. In the far room are lots of crates. Whack everything for tons of bolts. Back inside the room, there are stacks of crates around the perimeter. You should have 30,000 by the time you finish. Go outside to the mag rail.

Kerwan 15 At various points throughout the game, after acquiring enemy kill experience, your weapons will upgrade versions. All weapons that are part of your arsenal will level-up to a max of V5. At that point the weapon will change names to it's final anatomy. Increasing versions will update the weapon to have more firepower, a larger damage path or increase the ammo magazine.
