The Leviathan is your first boss battle. His health meter is in the lower right corner. Use your combuster and watch for the lock-on target ring anywhere on his body. Leviathans are like dragon snakes and fly around slowly. His only attack is an energy spray from his mouth which can be avoided by running left or right. He goes down relatively easily and leaves his soul behind and of course raritanium crystals. If you need ammo, there are pop-up crate vents around.

Leviathan souls will come in handy with the smuggler. He will trade souls for bolts. You will alro need to collect Leviathan sould to buy passage from one place to another or to get to another planet.

Deeper Into This Level - More Leviathans

On the far side of the Spaceport not too far away from the smuggler and his ship, there's a small opening in the cliffs leading to another marshy area.

By the time I got here Ratchet's combuster was V3 and had some raritanium upgrades. It did seem to help. The marshy area is swarming with critters, so to avoid confusion, take care of the critters first so you don't have ANY lock-on distraction when tackling either one of the 2 Leviathans. Once you start the battle with one Levaithan stay on that island. Don't jump to another island and provoke the other Leviathan. One at a time is enough. Use your combuster.

Like before, use your strafe move [L2] to dodge the spray attacks and head swoop attempts from the Leviathan. Both will go down relatively quickly, but will take more ammo than the first Leviathan you faced, back in the cliff area. I strongly suggest that between Levaithans, walk back out to the Spaceport and fully reload your ammo before tackling the 2nd one. Once done, pick-up all the raritanium crystals left behind and any stray bolts or crates.

Killing all 3 Basilisk Leviathans in both wilderness areas on Planet Cobalia, will earn you the Skill Point 3: Giant Hunter (10 points).
