From the map [select], we can go to Slim's Ship-Shack, but the co-ordinates don't show up on the galaxy map (what a surprize?). This is obviously a secret location.

Once we arrive at Slim's, there's not much going on. Go to the vendor console at the end of the walkway. All the ship mods that are currently available are shown on the screen. Each mod has a price and they require Raritanium crystals. From our space combats, we collected 80 crystals, so far. Not alot, but enough to start.

The more space battles Ratchet goes through, the more Raritanium he collects. Now that we have access to Slim's garage, it's prime opportunity to go back to the Feltzin System Thug Rendezvous and kick some serious butt. All the crystal asteroids there contain Raritanium. Go through the combat missions several times to load-up. Further on, into the game, Planet Tabora & Grelbin have underground deposits of Raritanium out in the remote areas, accessible with a hover mine driller.

There are several ship upgrades and paint schemes that ONLY OPEN after achieving certain levels of skill points. Here is the partial list so far...
5 skill points - Basic paint jobs - Blargian Red - Lombax Orange (2nd favorite) - Orxon Green - Bogon Blue - Drek's Blackheart.
8 skill points - Basic paint jobs - Yeedil Yellow - Quark Green - Pokitaru Purple - Snagglebeast Brown - Tobora Tan.
10 skill points - Custom paint job - Space Storm - Warp Streak - Supernova.
15 skill points - Custom paint job - Silent Strike - Solar Wind - Dark Nebula.
18 skill points - Fighter body upgrades - Scooped hood nose.
19 skill points - Custom paint murals - Neutron Star - Star Traveller.
25 skill points - Custom paint murals - Lunar Eclipse (favorite) - Clowner. |

Here is my baby!! after several battles. This is complete with - Lunar Eclipse paint mural - Scooped Hood Nose - UltraCharge Shields - Hi-Lift Wings - Triple Boost Acceleration Engine - Fusion Laser Cannons - Fast-Lock Missle Launcher - Multiple Torpedo Launcher - Hyperspace Warp System - Mega-Mine Launcher. And of course, Ratchet in his Men In Black Tuxedo and shades! Always have to fly first-class wherever we go. All upgrades, fully loaded is worth a skill point.
