Going Commando

Planet Notak

Planet Notak 17 After returning from the shopping district, our next mission is to explore the other part of the city. Go to the MegaCorp kiosk first, and load up on everything. At this point, I would buy the mini-turret gun, if you have the 25,000 bolts. It will definitely come in handy. Walk across the canal bridge. Load the mini-turret gun and toss one canister down the road. The canister pops open and a mini-turret rifle on a pole starts turning around looking for targets, like chicken-bots.

Planet Notak 18 Just stand back and let your weapon do its thing. It's a beautiful sight! Once the bots are gone, whack all the streetlights for bolts and don't forget the nearby crates. These ones give bolts and springs, which are worth 100. Load the seeker gun. Up ahead is a Thug security guard that comes running out from behind a building and starts firing at close range. Duck for cover, or run back towards the bridge, and fire one seeker drone. He shouldn't put up any kind of fight.

Planet Notak 19 Before going into the building on the left, backtrack to the bridge by the canal. Go right and behind the first building. Between the 2 buildings there's a platinum bolt. Now go back down the street and into the building on the left. The other end of the street is blocked by a forcefield, but we will get to the other side later. Inside the first room are a number of crates to whack.

Planet Notak 20 Inside the next room there's a waterpool. There's no ladder on the other side, so load the thermanator and freeze the water. This will also freeze the machinery. Skate across the pool and heli-jump to the platform on the oher side. Whack all the crates up top, and look down the next tunnel. Load the pulse rifle. At the other end of tunnel is a robot hive. This one is spitting out lots of chicken bots. Zoom-in with the target ring and blast the hive with one shot.

Planet Notak 22 Go down the tunnel and load the tesla claw or just use your wrench and clean-out the chicken-bots. Go out the other end. Back outside is a long wharf and it's crawling with Thug security. Stand and watch for a few seconds. Every once in a while, you'll see security guards sneek across the opening and then hide. You know the moment you go outside, you're going to be ambushed. There's also an attack chopper in the distance to the right. Load the pulse rifle and take down the chopper first, with 2 well-aimed, clean shots.

Planet Notak 21 Load the mini-turret gun. Run outside quickly and toss one canister to the left and one to the right. Run like mad back into the building, as the security guards start to open fire on you. Duck for cover. Hopefully, you'll hear your turret gun deploy and fire away at the Thug security guards, while you safely watch from a distance. If all went well, all the security guards are gone. To be on the safe side, load the blitz gun. If any are left standing, you can always blast them at close range.

Planet Notak 23 Load the tesla claw and go out onto the long pier. There's lots of chicken-bots roaming around. Watch-out for the metal drums at the end. They're explosive. Detonate them from a safe distance. Walk up the ramp and peg more chicken-bots. Security guards are hiding behind the drums on the upper platform. From the ramp, load the heavy lancer and detonate the drums. Hopefully the guards will be caught in the explosions. If not, they'll be injured and only need a couple more shots with the lancer to go down.

WEAPON STRATEGY: In many cases, when dealing with small pesky enemies like chicken-bots, I prefer to use the tesla claw, because the plasma stream auto-aims on the victim and is quick and efficient (no wasted ammo). Others may choose to use the blaster or lancer which is NOT as efficient, but will help you gain experience faster, leading to a heavy weapon upgrade, sooner. Ammo costs are cheaper with the claw.

Planet Notak 24 On the upper pier, to the right, at the very end, there's a rotating switch on the wall. Load the dynamo and activate the switch. A cut-away scene shows a set of doors opening and a camera shows the view outside those doors. When the scene stops and returns to gameplay, you can see a set of doors up ahead, on the next wharf section. We cannot get to the doors just yet. There's too many obstacles in the way to get there. We will return here in a minute.

Planet Notak 25 The next pier we'll have to heli-jump to. It looks suspicious though. There are several drums up ahead. Load the heavy lancer and blast away at what you can. Sure enough, Thug security guards come out for under cover. Load the pulse rifle. It's the only weapon that'll work well from this distance. Zoom-in on the auto-aim target ring and fire one shot at each of the Thug security guards (4 in all). Once the area is clear, load the tesla claw or lancer, jump over and clean-up.

Planet Notak 26 To the right, is another larger wharf area. Heli-jump over to that wharf and whack all the chicken-bots. This is way too quiet! There are several Thug security guards hiding behind all these drums. Load the blitz gun. Start from left to right and blow up the drums. Hopefully, you can start a chain-reaction and blow-up several drums in a row. Blast the security guards from close range as they come out. Ratchet will definitely take some damage here, but we now have more nano-health, and can withstand a heavy ambush.

Planet Notak 27 Once the area is quiet, whack all the pole lamps for bolts and then heli-jump over the fence and glide down to the pier where the ball switch was. Load the dynamo, activate the switch, then run across the pier, jump over the next piers, and run into the building with the open doors. You'll see the glow of a platinum bolt inside. The switch is on a timer, so be fast. Once Ratchet grabs the bolt, the timer will run out and the doors will close. Zap the dynamo switch inside, to open them.

Planet Notak 28 To the right are a stack of crates and a Nantoech beveled health square (4 points). Take the hover pad elevator up to the roof. To the right, on the next roof-top, there's a Thug attack chopper waiting and several chicken-bots. From the elevator, load the pulse rifle. if you step out from the elevator, the chopper will start firing. Zoom-in the auto-aim target ring and fire 2 clean shots. The chopper will go down quietly. Heli-jump to the second roof, clean-up, and approach the TV. Movie sequence begins.

Planet Notak 29 Ahha! This is an ad from our black market gangster friend, Slim Cognito. He has ship mods and upgrades. Clank receives the co-ordinates for his ship-shack. We'll definitely have to visit there. Mission accomplished. Our next step is to see what's inside the chemical factory. Look over the roof and take-in the great view.
