Maktar Nebula


Maktar Nebula 1 Before landing at the resort space station out in the nebula, Ratchet has to go through a little fighter combat training first. The graphics here are amazing! Fly in and around twirling asteroids. There are several clear crystal asteroids to shoot up as well. These contain Raritanium minerals, which will be valuable when it comes time to upgrade your spaceship. Each wave has 20 ships to destroy. The progress counter is bottom left.

Maktar Nebula 2 To the lower right is your radar proximity screen. As Ratchet turns the ship, the red dots (enemy locations) will swing around. The 12 o-clock position is your current heading. Missles and guns are on the controls. To lock-on a missle, follow a ship until the red square lights up and sounds an alarm. Fire away. The heat seeker will destroy the ship, even if it turns dramatically evading your fire. It is so cool!! Battle your way through 2 waves of fighter ships and you're done.

SPACE COMBAT GAMEPLAY: Take note that this space combat will ONLY happen the FIRST TIME you go from Planet Oozla to the Maktar Nebula. Any trips after will not start the space combat sequence. Don't worry! There's lot more space battles to come, and huge 3D arena-style ones that you can go back to as often as you like.

Maktar Nebula 3 Rachet finally lands at the resort. Go to the MegaCorp kiosk first, and load up on everything. If you didn't before, I would strongly suggest buying the chopper or the blitz gun, if you have the bolts to spare. First job is to see what you can whack? All the platform lamps are breakable and so are the hovering TV screens and satellites. A nice way to collect alot of bolts in a hurry. Load the gravity bomb. Walk down the ramp to the central platform. There's a security guard nearby.

Maktar Nebula 4 Once the security guard spots you, LOOK OUT!! He fires deadly accurate missles that come at you in streams. Look ahead and position the target ring for the gravity bomb, and when its close to the guard, toss a grenade right at him. Watch the fireworks! Not only do you vaproize him, but a stack of crates and a few platform lamps. Lots of bolts to clean-up. From here you can go left or right. Let's go right first.

Maktar Nebula 5 The red explosive crates should look familiar. DON'T WHACK THESE whatever you do. Instant health damage! To activate them, just jump on them or bump them gently. They will flash and an alarm will go off. Once they explode, they'll disintegrate anything breakable within its shock wave. Load your trusty wrench [square] and whack all the lights and crates. Load the gravity bomb and destroy the huge searchlight. Keep the gravity bomb loaded. Walk down the next platform. There are several robot dogs wandering around.

Maktar Nebula 6 Toss a grenade right in the middle of the pack. Most of them will be destroyed. Load the lancer and peg whatever is left running around. Again, whack all the lights and shoot down all the TV monitors and hovering satellites. Take your time. Don't miss any stray breakable item. It will be worth a skill point. Collect all the bolts that you can and conserve ammo for now. Walk all the way down to the end of the platform. The door to the left is blocked by a clyinder. Note the bullseye.

Maktar Nebula 7 This is a movable object. Load the tractor beam. Stand close to the column, zap the bullseye and move the column away from the entrance. Anywhere will do. Go inside the space pod. There not much going on, except for a harmless inspector robot walking around aimlessly.

Maktar Nebula 8 The door at the other end is blocked by some sort of security device. There is a circular sensor in the floor with 2 footprints. Someone has to stand there, to pass security. At second look, the inspector robot has a bullseye on his chest. The tractor beam can be used on him. Zap him with the tractor beam and lead him over to the floor sensor. The inspector will pass the security check and the door will open.

Maktar Nebula 9 In the next space pod, there's a ball hovering in the middle. This also has a bullseye. At the very end of the long access tunnel, there's a locked glass door. There's a sensor symbol in the middle (like a lock). First things first. Load the gravity bomb and take care of the pesty dog-bots. Go back to the ball and load the tractor beam. Run with the ball, down the hall to the sensor in the glass door. You can hear there's a timer in the ball. If you're late, the ball will explode and you'll have to start over.

Maktar Nebula 10 Once the doors are open, 2 heavily-armed security guards will rush to the door. They'll start firing missles right away. Jump to the left or right to avoid a direct hit. Load the chopper. Fire 2-3 boomerang blades into the room. Hopefully they'll ricochet back and forth and take down the guards for you. You may also want to use the gravity bomb. The only problem is you have to be in the line of fire when you toss the grenade into the room, and you could be severly injured.

Maktar Nebula 11 Whack all the nearby crates and enter the large dome. There is a funny contraption in the middle of the room. On the ledge to the right, up the ladder, there's another security device with a floor sensor and 2 slot machines? Go back down the access tunnel and find the inspector robot. Load the tractor beam and carry him over to the contraption. The device comes alive and turns into a giant plasma slingshot. Aim for the door on the ledge and pull backwards as far as you can go.

Maktar Nebula 12 When the tractor beam cuts out, the inspector gets catapulted to the ledge and disarms the security. Very cool! Go up top and load the gravity bomb. Take-out all the dog-bots nearby. There's a security guard at the other end of this tunnel. Load the lancer (use zoom auto-aim if need be) and take him down. Any time now, Ratchet will get a weapons upgrade and the lancer will now turn into a heavy lancer. A little more bang for your buck A beautiful sight!

Maktar Nebula 13 Hmmm... Slot machines.. Well, it is a resort afterall. Whack the machine with your wrench. The slot machine will start. Once the 3 tumblers stop, if you get 3 of the same symbols across, you'll receive a reward. 3 bolts = money (random amount). 3 ammo = will award you one ammo canister (random weapon). 3 health spheres = 1 Nanotech health boost. 3 explosive symbols = the machine will detonate! Keep playing til the slot blows up. Each whack costs 10 bolts.

SLOT MACHINES: There are several on this resort space station. PLAY EVERY ONE TIL IT EXPLODES! One of them has a secret. 3 bars = 1 skill point and 300 bolts!

Maktar Nebula 14 After you're done with the slot machines, go down the access tunnel to the next small circular room. There's another locked door with that sensor symbol. Off to the left is a glass access tunnel with sliding platforms. At the end of the tunnel is another small circular pod with a tractor ball. Jump over the platforms and load the tractor beam. With ball in tractor tow, jump over the platforms and run to the door. You should have JUST enough time to detonate the lock.

Maktar Nebula 15 Go outside. Down below is the Thugs-4-Less docking platform. It has some heavy-duty security around their ship (Cadillac space limo). Jump down and first whack everything in sight. Take-out all the pole lamps, searchlights and crates for lots of bolts. Because the floor is like glass you can see through it. There are more pole lamps under the floor. Whack the lamp housing up top and the lamp will shatter underneath. In the middle of the floor, there's another plasma slingshot device.

Maktar Nebula 16 The idea is to knock-out all 4 hovering satellites charging the force-field around the limo spaceship. Load the tractor beam and activate the slingshot. To get the satellites very high up, aim the slingshot in-line with the satellite, then pull on the plasma stream, ALL THE WAY BACK. When the plasma cuts out, the tractor ball will catapult and detonate the satellite. The 2 lower satellites need a shorter throw. Pull back on the slingshot about half-way, then release [X].

Maktar Nebula 17 After Ratchet has destroyed the 4th satellite, the force-field around the space-limo will vaporize. Now, Ratchet can ride to the Jamming Array Satellite out in space. Thugs-4-Less started the jamming array to interfere with the Pay-Per-View TV broadcast of Galactic Gladiators. They want some ransom money. Go inside the limo. This mission is now complete.
