The trick is to get to the museum, which isn't easy.

The tele-port is on Planet Boldan on the outskirts of Silver City. To get there, take the grind rails along the power poles. Grind past the first building balcony rails. On the next set of power lines, BEFORE the construction site, whack one of the transformers on the last pole, stopping Ratchet. You can now break away from the grind rail and freely heli-glide down to the grass by the street on the left. Look for the big garage.

The door to the garage cannot be opened. Jump around to the left. The ground is solid there, even though the graphics may go a little buggy. Half-way down the left side of the garage, Ratchet drops below ground, out of sight. Turn right and walk under the crawl space of the garage (very weird). Heli-jump UP through the floor, into the garage. Lots of Thugs are there to greet you. Take care of business and look for the teleport pad that is marked Insomniac Museum.

Activate the teleport pad, and we are whisked away to Planet Burbank and plunked right into the museum. Cool! All the game software designers have their own hovering TV monitor, and the many many contributions that NEVER made it to either of the Ratchet & Clank games. Here, for example is a hover vehicle that was going to be used in the big boss Thug battle on Snivelak. It was dropped because it couldn't carry enough heavy weaponry. Cool to try a test drive inside though?

This one is quite strange. The Gravity Spheres were to be used in Silver City on Boldan. It was dropped because everyone thought it was too nauseating and too difficult. Load the swingshot and try it out.. Your Gravity Boots will take over. This is strange and hard to get used to. The room spins out of control quite quickly as you walk around. By the way, the only way off is by Swingshot across to the doorway.

This is a 3-headed water creature called Hydra. It was going to be used in the original game on Pokitaru as a mini-boss battle in one of the lagoons on the pontoon boats. The mechanics of the 3-heads work well, but there was not enough BITE to the creature to figure out how it could put up a good fight with Ratchet? The piranha blow-fish were made tougher as a result.

This is a Water World Boss Tank and the smaller version enemy on the right. These were intended for the jet-ski Water World that never made it into the original Ratchet & Clank game. Don't know why? That would have been fun! Not too far away in another room, was the original water system that was more fluid and dynamic, but over-run the game engine.

This was WAY TOO COOL! You can learn how to make your own custom explosions and missle fire trails, using a special CGI debugging program. I spent 1/2 an hour in here alone, just trying different effects and colors. Love this stuff! In another room, you can experiment with a particle fountain and customize to make dfferent effects.

Ah... The fine art of weaponry. This was originally used as a Raritanium drill by the construction worker in the first game on Planet Hoven. It was going to be revived as a Revolverator where Ratchet would spin the enemies over his head. The problem was that Ratchet was left vulnerable to attack.

There was tons more stuff to see, including 2 test hover cars to drive around in. Slow and predictable but they had gauges! Use the Electrolyzer to open the back doors. WOW!! A whole new area off in the distance. This is the experimental dome (almost like Star Trek holodeck stuff). Take the teleport pad and learn how they programmed Ratchet's moves. By the way.. You can't drive the cars outside.. I tried it.

The last exhibit is around the side of the building on the outside. Jump the railing on the right and go around. This is the Gravity Boot Test Track. This is so wild! Run around the corkscrews and then on the globe at the very top. You can't jump off the globe to the roof (tried it), but you can jump down through the corkscrew to the ground. There's a teleport nearby that will take you back into the museum by the entrance..... Tour complete.
