Once the Containment Grid has been taken down from the Guard Tower, you'll be able to travel through the time portal. Once you walk into the temporal rift circle, Ratchet will be transported to the same spot in the Fongoid village, but 2 years ago. The time rift portal will be there in the past as well, so you'll be able to travel back and forth between times.

The Fongoids of 2 years ago, are very much in love with Nefarious? CAN YOU BELIEVE IT (talk about a snow job)? The central computer announces messages of inspiration along with soothing music.. what I like to call "Muzak".. "Dr.Nefarious is brilliant" or "A day without Dr.Nefarious, is like a day wihtout sunshine". Ok enough of this brain washing already. Walk around and find the Fongoid leader.

[cut scene] Of course the Fongoid leader is totally brain washed and sings the praises about Dr.Nefarious. BUT. There is some helpful information. You know that Nefarious is meeting with Orvus deep inside the outpost right now. You also find out that the winch crank for the bridge is rusted up and there's nothing they can do til the oil derrick is finshed, before they can fix it.
HINT: That will defintely require time travel.

Walk up to the Fongoid by the winch wheel and crane. [cut scene] This Fongoid is a gardener. "What can I do for you this fine day?.. I was planting some vines and suddenly felt the urge to stop, and help our visitor build his new home!" You can offer help by planting vine seeds for the Fongoid. He'll walk you through where the seeds are, and where the planting beds are. There are 3 planting beds (all closeby).

Go to the nearby seed tree and with your wrench, grab a vine seed bulb. Walk over to the planting bed to the right and toss the seed into the bed [R2]. It instantly grows and puffs up into a small vine (and you didn't even have to water it with your OmniSoaker)? ONE DOWN! The other 2 planting beds are across the bridge. Walk across and load your Dynamo Ball. There are pesky little Zyphoids lurking around.

Throw out a supercharge ball once you reach the end of the bridge. That should take out the small Zyphoids and the spawning hive. Use a smaller weapon like your Pistol to take down the rest. Go to the tree on the left and pick-up another seed bulb. Plant it in the bed across the terrace. Another vine sprouts up from the garden bed. The last bed is down at the end of the terrace. Make sure the Zyphoids are gone.

Plant the 3rd and final seed in the last open garden bed. Another vine sprouts up from the ground. JOB DONE! Now that you've planted all the vines, you can back through the time portal to the present day, and see how big they've become. Of course when you walk by the farmer again, he'll confirm that. "It will takes few years for them to grow"
Make your way back to the time portal and walk through to present day.
