Explore Main Fortress

Inside Captin Qwark's fortress there are several more obstacles to get past. This is the 2nd half of the mission.

Planet Umbris 14 Once the door to the fortress has been opened, climb the steps, then the wall ladder leading to an upper courtyard. There are 2 circling convoys of hover mines. From inside the entrance, load the blaster and auto-aim on the first group of mines as they fly past. Destroy them all, collect the bolts, walk slowly into the courtyard, and then from a safe distance, destroy the second group in sequence. Run and trip the 3 sensor pads, to gain access to the far locked door.

Planet Umbris 15 Climb the wall ladder inside the tower. Up top are a series of connecting water pools. Look in the water. You'll see some rather large mutant fish swimming around. Load the hydrodisplacer, plug into the nearby drain tap, and suck the water out of the resevoir. If you look over the edge, you'll see the fish floundering in the shallow water. Load the bomb glove and aim the target ring. Toss a bomb on the fish down below. It's now safe to glide to the bottom of the resevoir.

Planet Umbris 16 Near the bottom of the right wall, there is a connecting pipe tunnel to another resevoir, which also happens to be empty. As you walk through the pipe, you'll see more floundering fish in the next area. Toss a couple of bombs and clean-out the resevoir. The conck shells also explode and contain lots of bolts. Climb the steps on the right and jump to the next platform. This resevoir is already empty. Down below are more floundering fish. They are too far away for the bomb glove.

EXTRA HINT: Before moving on to the 3rd resevoir, look down over the balcony ledge by the top of the pool steps. Way down, by the tower entrance is another gold bolt, hidden inside a locked tower. Heli-glide down through the tower to the bottom. Grab the gold bolt. Walk over the 3 floor sensors and release the entrance door. Go to you right and retrace your steps, back up to the top of the fortress.

Planet Umbris 17 Jump down to the bottom of the resevoir and from a safe distance, toss a couple of bombs at the fish. Clean-out the area, then turn around and climb the wall ladder back to the upper platform. Load the hydrodisplacer and fill the resevoir to the top. Now Rachet can swim to the other side and climb out to another platform. The next resevoir is full of water and has 3-4 of those nasty mutant fish hiding just out of view under the wall. Walk around the edge to take a look.

Planet Umbris 18 Load the hydrodisplacer again plug into the drain tap and suck the water out. Walk around to the far edge and look down. Now you can see where the fish are stranded down below even in the far section. Jump down to the bottom, load the blaster or bomb glove and take care of business. Now that you know the area is mutant-free, climb out using the wall ladder, load the hydrodisplacer and refill the resevoir. Now, Rachet has to swim under the building and climb out to the far platform on the left-hand side.

Planet Umbris 19 The next long resevoir has a different strategy. To successfully use the swingshot and the versa-targets, the water has to be lowered to give enough swing clearance. It just so happens your hydrodisplacer is empty!! Plug in, drain the resevoir and load the swingshot. Swing through the 2 double targets, then to the single target. You'll land on another dry platform. Break all the crates nearby and walk around to the circular resevoir with the island tower in the middle.

Planet Umbris 20 This resevoir is already empty and there are more mutants down below. Jump down load the blaster and take-out all the fish. The nearby steps lead to another passageway but the door is closed. Go back to where Rachet jumped down, and climb the ladder on the wall. Load the hyrdodisplacer and fill the resevoir. Swim over to the tower in the middle and climb out. Walk on all 3 sensor pads. This will open the far door. Swim back to the drain tap, reload the displacer and suck all the water out of the resevoir.

Planet Umbris 21 Jump down and walk across the bottom to the steps on the far side. Heli-jump up the steps through the open doorway. Walk down the winding passageway. There are no more surprizes. Follow it to the very end. Through the last doorway, you can see what looks like a catwalk tube, and there standing at the very end, is Captain Qwark. We finally finally made it!! Mission accomplished. [Movie sequence begins].
