Ratchet & Clank

Ultra-Mech Inventor

Planet Quartu is Clank's homeworld and site of the robot factory. Our first mission is to find the robot inventor who can tell us about the Ultra-Mech robots.

Planet Quartu 2 Off to the right, is a ramp leading down to the factory. Load the morph-o-ray gun. Zap the small robot dogs and turn them into chickens. The bigger robot soldier is another story. Load the blaster. From a safe distance, use the zoom auto-aim target ring and fire 3-4 shots. If you venture too close to this robot, he'll fire long range missles that are deadly accurate. The robot factory is off limits at this time because Rachet needs the robot hologuise to gain access.

Planet Quartu 3 Whack all the crates in the open area, grab all the goodies and walk over to the bridge. Load the swingshot. Overhead, is a double versa-target. Tarzan swing over to the other side of the bridge. Load the blaster before venturing too far down the walkway. Peg all the robot dogs as they start to run towards Rachet. Up ahead is a man-hole cover and 2 robot sentinel guards with electric tazer guns. Fire blind with the blaster at medium range as they come out, or load the disruptor and fire 1 missle at each robot using the target ring.

Planet Quartu 4 Load the morph-o-ray gun again. It's not a bad idea to conserve as much ammo as you can. Down the walkway are 2 more groups of small robot dogs. Chicken sandwich anyone? As you go to the right, and round a blind corner, 6 sentinel robot guards pop-out of a nearby man-hole cover. They are close-by and difficult to lock-on to, because these guys move around and hide behind the piping. Load the disruptor and using the zoom auto-aim target ring from a safe distance, carefully fire 1 missle at each one.

ALTERNATE STRATEGY: Another way to get by the 6 sentinel robot guards is to load the glove of doom and toss 2 canisters up ahead. You'll need to venture down the walkway to keep the robot guards from going back down the man-hole cover, which can be a little trickey if they are firing their tazer guns, but the nano-robots do a great job chasing the robots that are hiding behind the pipes, once they spot them.

Planet Quartu 5 Once the coast is clear, continue down the walkway past the pipes. Near the end, there is a small building on the right guarded by 2 sentinel robots. Load the blaster and let the target ring find each robot and fire 3-4 shots. If you stay behind the cover of the piping, the sentinel guards will not fire. Take care of the guard dogs running around and grab the Nanotech health sphere off to the right. Load the minesweeper and dig-up all the hidden bolts in the area.

Planet Quartu 6 The access door to the building on the left is invinco-locked, but with a special laser key. The trespasser doesn't work on this key receptacle. Go through the doorway on the right. Load the glove of doom before entering and toss 2 canisters. The nano-robots will take care of all the guard dogs hiding behind the crates in the building that you can't see. Whack all the stacks of crates and then go to the right through the other doorway. The inventor is standing outside.

Planet Quartu 7 Approach the inventor. [Movie sequence begins]. He explains the Ultra-Mech invention and suggests that Clank try it. As Clank steps on the large floor sensor, his body changes, part by part, and he becomes a giant robot. The inventor doesn't seem too sure that the reversal process works, but gives Rachet the opinion that it should work. This mission is now complete. Time to explore, with Clank now as a giant Ultra-Mech.

Return Visit

After finding the codebot key on Drek's Fleet, come back to the inventor's workshop. Work your way down the platform, zapping the guard dogs along the way. It's so much fun using the morph-o-ray gun, turning the area into a chicken farm?

Planet Quartu 34 At the very end of the platform, look for the vault door on the left with the invinco lock. As you approach the door, the codebot will engage. Inside the vault are tons of crates and a precious gold bolt. Whack away and fill up the piggy bank. Once done, go back to the shuttle launch pad and leave the planet for good.
