After Clank gets the Thruster-Pack upgrade from Bob, Ratchet can power slam the piston lock in front of the garage door. Once the door opens, we see a cool new jet fighter plane parked inside. Time for some serious fun!

Rachet's job on this flying mission is to destroy the Blarg tanker ships. Not as easy as it sounds! There are smaller scout fighter planes protecting the tanker ships that will get in the way. This mission has no time limit or fuel limit in the jet, so it would be advised to take some time to get used to the controls and to fly around the resort. The flying simulation is very realistic (trust me) and it gives you an idea of just how hard it would be to shoot down a plane in air-to-air combat.

Each tanker ship is like a caterpillar train. Ratchet has to shoot and destroy each tank starting at the back and working up to the cockpit. Our jet fighter plane has machine gun fire [O], which is only good for taking down the pesky scout planes that block your way. Tanks have to be destroyed using the guided missle launcher [X]. The number of missles we have on-board, is displayed on the left-hand side of the screen. Each tanker ship will need 7-8 well-aimed missles.

A missle has to be locked-on to a tank using the moving target ring display, in order to guide it home and to destroy a tank section. As you fly towards a tank, the rings will come into focus and then light-up, once they lock-on. Fire the guided missle as soon as you can. It's very hard to hold the target lock-on when flying, for 2 important reasons. First - Rachet's flying in one direction and the tanker ship is probably flying in another direction to avoid you. It's almost impossible to sneak up behind them.

Not only are you flying in different directions, but Ratchet is flying alot faster. You learn quickly, that you have to lock-on, fire, then dive, climb, or sharply turn out of the way to avoid a mid-air collision. Secondly - the enemy scout planes fire chaser bursts at you when you try to lock-on or fire a missle. This confuses the missle target locking sensor and you'll end up being pre-occupied chasing and destroying any nearby scout plane with your machine gun fire, first.

Every time Ratchet shoots-down a scout plane, a parachute will open with missle ammo. Flying near the G box on the parachute will give you an extra missle. We'll need a few to get all 4 tanker ships. Take your time and eventually you'll destroy the whole fleet. Once complete, Ratchet is back at the garage and the jet is gone.
