Ratchet & Clank

Ride Grindrial Network

Planet Kalebo 19 Our next mission is to navigate the grindrail network, in hope of finding some new equipment. To get to the grindrail, go right from the main Gadgetron building lobby and take the hover-pad elevator up to the platform. It may be a good idea to look at what's up ahead before commiting to the graindrail. The good news! It is possible to load and use different weapons to destroy obstacles. Obstacles that can be taken-out, include spike mines and track robots.

Planet Kalebo 20 As you start the grindrail, Rachet descends through a set of curves littered with land mines. Land mines need to be destroyed ahead of time with a weapon, or jumped at the last second. The circular support gates crossing the rails, need to be jumped. Every land mine hit or support gate missed will inflict damage on Rachet. Along the way, the rail will separate into 3 spurs. Jump from spur to spur to avoid being hit by the rail cars as they zoom past in the opposite direction. Rail cars can't be destroyed even with disruptor fire.

Planet Kalebo 24 After your first encounter with the rail cars, on the far right rail, there's a small paddle switch to whack with your wrench. A successful whack will release a signal that you can hear, deactivating an iris forcefield, inside a tower gate up ahead. After the rail spurs end, there will be a second rail running parallel to the right. Jump to the right rail and do the entire loop (you may want to do this twice. There are 2 paddle switches. Rejoin the main rail and jump to the left. Climb the hill and leap jump over the gap, to the next rail section.

PAINFUL DEATH: Should Rachet lose all his health and fall to his death, you will restart the grindrail back at the platform. You will have all 5 health spheres to start every time. It will take 3-4 tries to get the feel for the obstacle course. If you should happen to make it all the way through WITH NO INJURY, you'll earn a skill point.

Planet Kalebo 21 This next rail section will again split into 3 spurs inside a tunnel. Rail cars come at you on all 3 rails. Jump to the right, then middle, then right (around the bend). Jump to the middle, over the land mine, then quickly over the tower gate. We are back on a single rail again. You may take some health damage not making the jump sequence, but that's ok for now. Up ahead is another rail on the right, leading to another loop. Make sure the forcefield iris IS NOT TURNED ON before jumping tracks.

Planet Kalebo 20 The right loop was a little odd and a waste of time. There were no paddle switches, loose bolts, gold bolts, or bonus points. The robots trying to block the rail can be easily whacked with Rachet's wrench. Once you return back up to the main rail, jump to the left then make the long climb up the ramp. At the very top of the rail (within the black stripe marked area), leap across to the next triple rail section. You probably can't avoid the gate and rail car that are right on top of you as you land.

Planet Kalebo 24 This will inflict 1-2 health damage hits. Jump to the right rail as soon as you regain control, and leap over all the mines. Before the end of the long curve to the left, (this will be a blind move), jump to the middle rail so you don't slam into the power box where the spurs end. Jump the last mine and the last tower gate. The grindrail ends with a long jump to a circular platform down below, with a building in the middle. Back on solid ground.

Planet Kalebo 25 Go inside the building. Movie sequence begins. Welcome to the Gadgetron Helpdesk Office. This is the robot behind the voice, that has been helping you throughout the game. She hands Rachet the new Map-o-matic device, that will open up new (previously hidden) charted areas on some planets. Clank seems to be in love with this female robot. Poor Guy!! Another mission is now complete. Load the metal detector, grab all the stray bolts. Don't leave quite yet!

Planet Kalebo 26 On the other side of the platform, across from Helpdesk Office entrance, there's a small deck with a wall ladder going down. On the lower platform, there's a teleport pad that will take you to the Employee Breakroom. You can see the portal on the side of the building across the water. Inside is a gold bolt and really nothing else other than a whole bunch of chickens. Take the teleport pad back to the Helpdesk Office platform, and then find the hover taxi to return to the main lobby.
