Ratchet's first mission on the base is to disrupt the power supply and render the base inoperative. There will be many obstacles and security barriers along the way. Be careful and don't forget to sweep up any hidden bolts with the metal detector.

This would be a good time to go and visit the Gadgetron Kiosk. You'll need to the stocked up to the max. From the shuttle pad, jet-hover down to the lower level. Notice that the connecting bridge to the main station is not activated. Rachet can run and jet-hover across to the other side or climb back up the ladder to the shuttle pad and jet-glide across the bridge to the main platform area from up top. Load the pyrocitor. Flame the red birds after they land as they start attacking.

Clean out the lower platform area and climb the stairs. Load the disruptor. Off to the right is a tower that looks like a lighthouse. These energy towers power the forcefields around the station. Auto-aim the weapon target ring and blast away. Watch the tower as it collapses to the ground and disintegrates. The forcefield is now gone and you can walk into the next fenced-in platform. Load the blaster and take out the flying birds and the soldier lurking in the corner.

Off in the distance, a little farther away, is another energy tower. Load the disruptor again and with the zoom auto-aim target ring, take out the tower. Do not venture down to the next area just yet. Load the glove of doom and toss 2 canisters down to the flock of birds now waiting to attack. The nano-robots will take care of business for you. Don't go anywhere near the glass bubble. This is a trap! It is an armed machine-gun turret that can only be attacked from the back.

SKILL POINT: On some the roof-tops of the buildings, there are stationary tanks. Knocking-out all 8 tanks using a disruptor or visibomb missle, earns a skill point.

Walk to the right, whack all the crates and climb onto the raised platform. This will alert the soldier to start firing the machine gun at you, but the bullets won't reach you. Walk around to the back of the turret, avoiding the machine gun, load the blaster and take-out the soldier manning the gun. From here go to the next door area and load the trespasser. Align all the green lasers and decode the invinco-lock. These locks will get more difficult as you advance deeper into the game.

Through the now-opened door is an open area with another machine-gun turret. Go up the stairs on the right to the upper walkway. Load the pyrocitor. Flame the flying birds as they land. Load the glove of doom and toss one canister down to the lower level behind the turret. Your nano-robots will take care of the soldier manning the turret and any left-over birds. Clean-out the lower area and load the trespasser. Disable the next invinco-lock for the door on the right.

In the next area there are several flying birds and 2 soldiers with flame guns. Load the glove of doom again. Toss 2 canisters onto the upper deck. The nano-robots will take out the 6 birds. Walk along the deck to the left. The remaining nano-robots will jump down to the lower hidden deck and take-down the 2 soldiers before they fire. Jump down, whack all the crates on the lower deck. Load the disruptor. Using the zoom auto-aim target ring, take-out the energy tower by the hanger. This will vaproize the forcefield.

Before venturing down to the hanger, load the glove of doom and toss a canister down to the lower level. The nano-robots will take care of the birds that are right at the bottom of the ledge that Rachet cannot see. Jump down and load the blaster. Watch-out for the green coil cylinders. They contain deadly toxic plasma and are very explosive. Fire one or two bullets and all the cylinders in the immediate area will explode in a chain reaction. They also kill any nearby nutants.

After the area has been cleared-out, walk into the spaceship hanger. Hovering inside is a nasty Blarg security fighter spaceship. Once the ship detects your presence, it starts to fire long range missles that are very fast and accurate. Your only chance is to hide for cover, out of sight, behind a wall. Load the visibomb gun. From behind cover, fire and guide one missle right into the ship. Walk to the other end of the hanger. As you approach, floor sensors will trip open the far doors. There are 2 security fighter ships waiting to greet you.

Run back to the middle of the hanger, just out of missle range from the fighter ships. With the visibomb gun still loaded, fire and guide one missle into each of the ships. Once the coast is clear, walk through the open doors back outside to a new area. There are toxic plasma cylinders scattered everywhere, lots of flying mutant birds and 2 machine-gun soldiers lurking among the clyinders. Load the blaster and shoot out the plasma cylinders. The chain reaction explosions will destroy most of the enemies. Blast the rest.

Clean-out the area and grab the 2 Nanotech health spheres if you need them? Enter the elevator cylinder and walk over the floor sensor. The elevator pad will take you down to the power plasma sewer system. Approach the edge of the sewer. Note the toxic green liquid plasma gushing up and down. Using the zoom auto-aim target ring, take down the 6 mutant birds on the other side. Now run and jet-glide over to the other side of the sewer stream. If you miss and fall into the plasma, you'll lose health, but won't die.

Walk down the access tunnel to the next chamber with the metal grate platforms. Watch the pool of plasma going up and down. Rachet has to run and jump to the highest platform in the middle, before the plasma surges to the top of its cycle. The plasma will not reach that platform. From the middle platform look to the left wall. There is a tunnel portal guarded by a forcefield. You can see a gold bolt glowing in the distance. Run jump to the far ledge by the giant wall fan.

RETURN VISIT: After you have defeated Qwark out in space, return to this area before leaving the base. The forcefield to the portal should now be gone. Glide to the portal and grab the gold bolt. Just for fun, Load the visibomb gun and blast away at the power chamber and out the vents.

Whack the nearby crates and the Nanotech health sphere. You'll have to use the double versa-targets to swing across this plasma pool. Load the disruptor first before crossing! Zoom auto-aim on the 3 security soldiers standing on the far platform (they are just barely visible). Lock-on and fire away. Load the swingshot and tarzan across to the far platform. Take down any soldier you couldn't peg from the other side. Be careful, they have long range flame throwers.

As Rachet walks through the next section, the Magneboots will take over. Follow the ramp down the wall until it curves left. The plasma pool below, will move up and down on your right-hand side. As the plasma goes down, quickly walk past the bends in the path before the plasma comes back up again and covers the path. Walk to the end, then left and up the far wall, back to an upright position. Make sure Rachet is free of his magneboots so he can load the blaster.

At the end of the next hallway, there's a soldier lurking behind a row of toxic plasma cylinders. Fire away at the nearest plasma cylinder. The chain reaction explosions will take-out the soldier. In the next engine chamber (note the moving pistons in the walls), there is a large pool of toxic plasma and no visible way to jump across safely. On the far wall of the plasma pool, there's a metal platform half-way down. This platform is only visible when the toxic plasma recedes. There are several plasma cylinders covering the platform.

Load the disruptor. From the high platform, zoom auto-aim on the plasma cylinders on the far platform and fire one missle. This will explode all the cylinders and clear the platform. Wait for the plasma to start to recede, and then jet-glide over to the platform. Quickly jet-jump up to the higher ledge. Whack all the crates, clear out the area and take the elevator cylinder up and back outside.

As the elevator stops, 4 flying mutant birds are right there to attack you. Your best bet is to use the trusty boomerang wrench move because it would be a waste of a disruptor missle (or any ammo you have loaded) and you have no time to change weapons. Off to the left is a set of stairs and another cargo hanger blocked by a forcefield. The energy tower is impossible to get a clear shot at. Off to the right is a walkway and a set of stairs. Peg all the nearby flying mutant birds.

At the top of the steps, tucked in the corner, is a Gadgetron Kiosk ! Nice surprize in the middle of nowhere. You know you're going to have to load-up on everything. There are some big mutant battles ahead. From the top of the steps, Rachet notices a big window in the wall of the hanger. We can clearly see the top of a energy tower inside. Load the disruptor, zoom auto-aim on the tower through the window, and fire one missle. This vaporizes the forcefield back by the elevator.

Climb the steps by the front of the now-open cargo hanger. Up ahead is a hovering security fighter spaceship that quickly starts firing missles at you. Run for cover, behind the door on the right and load the visibomb gun. Fire and guide one missle into the spaceship. The doors at the other end of the hanger will now open up. Scattered around the floor of the hanger are toxic plasma cylinders. To access the upper ledges inside the hanger, jump on top of the plasma cylinders.

From the top of a nearby cylinder, carefully jet-jump over to the ledges on each side. You'll have just enough height in mid-air, to hang-on to the side and then you'll be able to pull-up onto the ledge. There are lots of crates up top including 2 Nanotech health spheres. Time to have some fun! From up top, load the bomb glove and toss a few grenades at the plasma cylinders below, including some outside the hanger. Once you're done, go down and rake-in all the bolts.

Watch for 2-3 lingering mutant birds outside and don't forget to take-out the 3 roof-top tanks up ahead. Load the bomb glove again and toss a grenade down to the deck by the long building with the 3 machine gun turrets. This will clear out the area for you. Don't go to the left!! You'll die from the non-stop machine gunfire. On the right side is a closed door with an invinco-lock. Load the trespasser, line-up the green lasers and disable it. Walk through the opened door.

Load the blaster. Peg all the toxic plasma cylinders inside the building and any soldiers left behind manning the machine guns. Once the area is clear, collect all the bolts left behind. Don't forget to mine-sweep for hidden bolts. Now we can walk down the path outside, past the machine gun turrets. There are hidden bolts out here too. As Rachet turns the corner, we're confronted by an army of mutants. I counted 20 mutant birds and 4 soldiers with flame-throwers.

Approach the end of the platform but don't jump down. Load the blaster again. Using the zoom auto-aim target ring, lock-on to one flying bird at a time and fire 2-3 blasts. After the birds are gone, load the disruptor. Now jump down to the cargo deck. Zoom auto-aim on the soliders at the other end and fire one missle at each one. The doors at the end will open exposing 2 security fighter specaships. Load the visibomb gun jump back up to the platfrom, and from a safe distance behind the wall, guide one missle into each ship.

Once everything is quiet, jump down to the cargo deck and whack all the crates. On the far right wall, there are a series of openings that look like vents. Load the blaster. Stand in front of each wall opening, and using your zoom auto-aim, look inside. At the very end of each inclined tunnel, there is a soldier manning a machine gun turret. Lock-on to the soldier and fire 2-3 blasts. You can collect their bolts up top in a little while. At this time, I suggest going all the way back to the Gadgetron Kiosk to load-up on ammo.

Once you've reloaded your ammo, go all the way to the end of the cargo deck and over to a new platform. Up top there is nothing to fight. Grab all the bolts by the machine gun turrets, and make your way over to the elevator tube on the left. Load the pryocitor before going into the elevator. Activate the elevator. As you go down, the elevator inverts upside down. When it stops, Rachet will be upside down and his Magneboots take over. You cannot load a weapon right now.

Walk across the small catwalk and stop before the end. Look up to the floor area in the next arena. There are lots of birds and soldiers waiting for you. Now walk off the end. You'll invert and fall to the arena floor. Immediately load the pryocitor and start fanning a flame from left to right. Rachet will be ambushed by at least 50 angry mutant birds. Run away as best you can and find the 6 hive mutant generators scattered around the perimiter of the arena. The mutant generators need to be destroyed first.

If you don't find and destroy the generators first, Rachet will be fighting large groups of mutant birds that won't stop coming. This will be certain death! If they don't get you, the soldiers will! Look for the oval portal on the left. If you walk onto the ledge of the portal, the mutants will not attack you. You can use the blaster and disruptor and peg them all from safety. Once the coast is clear, you can clean-up the extreme pile of bolts scattered across the arena and take the new elevator tube back outside. Climb the steps and meet up with Qwark. This mission is now complete.
