Jak II

Complete Arena Training

At the very start of the game, Jak and Daxter are banished to the Wasteland of Haven City. Count Veger and the Grand Council think that Jak is a renegade and is not welcome in the City any longer. Out in the desert, Jak is rescued by Damas & Kleiver members of a nomad village called Spargus.

Arena Training 1 To prove his worth to Damas and the people of Spargus, Jak has to first go through some arena training. Should he survive, he gets the rite to stay in the village under their protection (and of course he gets some goodies for his efforts). The first arena challenge is basic navigation for the controller. The moves learned are basically jumping and climbing. The object of this challenge is to collect all 35 white stars along the obstacle course. Follow the prompts on the screen to execute the move required to advance further.

Arena Training 2 One of the more difficult moves is the barrel roll long jump. This move allows Jak to hyper jump across big gaps. The secret is to position Jak with enough room to roll forward in a summerault once, then jump with the momentum of the roll. If you start the roll too far back on the platform, you'll fall short when you execute the jump. If you start the roll to close to the edge, Jak will fall off the edge of the platform with no jump. Below is a lava lake. Should you die, you'll start over.

Arena Training 3 After completing a few more moves including extended jumps and muiltiple jumps over moving platforms, Jak collects all 35 stars.A small platform appears near the lava lake. Jump to the elevator. It will slowly rise up to Damas' viewing balcony high in the cave wall. Jump to the circular platform with the white flood light. This white light is a completion or save point in the game and will become a very important navigation beacon especailly when driving in the desert.

[Movie sequence begins] Damas is impressed with your skills and thinks you may be worthy of becoming a Wastelander Warrior. He ponders that eventhough you may be good on your feet, how good are you with a weapon? He tosses Jak a weapon.
