After completing the pest control mission with the Leaper, Jak has to go and investigate an ancient technology satellite that has washed up on shore. Look to the radar proximity map and find the monk icon. Track it down to the beach area.

[Movie sequence begins] Jak approaches the Satellite and is stopped by a group of strange people huddled around it. This is Seem, a Precursor Monk in the village. Seem warns that this ancient artifact is an evil abomination of Precursor technology powered by Dark Eco. Seem then prophesizes that the world is doomed and he should leave. Jak gets mads and in a fit of rage turns on his Dark Eco powers, walks up to Seem, accidentally zapping & activating the satellite.
Jak and Seem are taken by surprise that the satellite has come to life. Seem is more worried that Jak has Dark Eco power. The satellite has activated a systems view screen. Jak has to descramble the images in the monitor to unlock its secret. Various [cursor] images will come in from the left + top + right + bottom, all corresponding to the symbols on your controller (and in the correct orientation). The symbols come into the view screen at a slow speed.
Tap the corresponding controller button as the controller symbol passes through the blue target circle. This will erase the image from the screen and will tally 1 point. Jak has to accumulate 75 points to decode the satellite. Should you miss a symbol or take a stray shot with any controller button, this will count as a miss. You are only allowed 5 misses for the duration of the test. All scoring is recorded at the top of the screen.
After finishing the test with 75 points, the satellite springs to life. [Movie sequence begins]. The satellite reconfigures a mechanical arm and releases a Dark Eco Crystal. Seem the Monk, says not to touch that, but then realizes that Jak is not an ordinary person and can handle the Dark Eco power. Jak grabs the Dark Eco Crystal. Seem & Jak look at the satellite which is transmitting an ancient Precursor dialect. Something about re-claiming this unfinished world? Not good!
As the satellite finishes transmitting its signal, it springs into the air, unleashes a powerful light beam out into the sky, then explodes into a million pieces. Seem is worried that something terrible is going to happen. Time to move on.
