You would think that Jak has done enough? Not only does he have to still carry-out more missions, but now he has to fight his way to find and use a Zoomer. KG Death Bots and Spider Bots are everywhere. Might as well join the firefight. Once these guys go down, they leave behind ammo cartridges. Make sure you pick-up more ammo then you use? Look for ammo and health crates nearby as well. Take a walk down the street and help your Freedom League Soldiers. Load up!
Once you get tired of fighting, grab a Zoomer and fly out from the northern part of the city. Look for the "tent" icon in the proximity radar. We're now going deep into the East Slums. As you fly at high hover, firefights are still breaking out everywhere. There seem to be more KG then ever before. It's fun to watch all the gunfire down below while we cruise high above the action. Go to the palace area and land the zoomer near the tent. Walk inside. [Movie sequence begins]
Onin, Pecker and Samos are inside the tent (very odd the KG haven't attacked or set fire to the tent?)... Hmmm where's Keira? Anyway... Onin is worried that she sees Jak's future being undecided and clouded in mystery. She says the only way to find out his future is to go deep into the Catacombs. Onin suggests that Pecker go with Jak. Pecker is shocked in disbelief that he has to go.. but finally relents. Pecker flies off and says he'll meet up with Jak inside the Palace Ruins.

Grab your Zoomer parked outside (if it hasn't been destroyed already). If it's not there, go find one. Fly through the East Slums back into the Northern Section.. Fly all the way through the streets to the forcefield gate to the Palace area. As you fly close, the forcefield will evaporate. Fly through the ruins past the mangled wreckage, past the canal, deep into the rubble. Jump off the zoomer when you're close to the "palace" icon. Hmmm... no doors or windows. How do you go in?
This took awhile to figure out! There's a long metal beam leading from the canal up to the roof area leaning up against the rubble. Jump on the JetBoard and rail-grind up the beam to the very top. At the top, is a very narrow tunnel through the rubble, just big enough to walk through. Walk to the other end. [Movie sequence begins] There's MetalHead & KG Bots in the ruins and Jak decides to use his War Amulet (Daxter's idea) to call in the Wastelander Clan. Of course, it doesn't work? |
These KG and MetalHead LeaperBots and Lurkers are more agressive and tougher. Load the Plasmite RPG and clean-out the lower deck. More Leaper Bots attack from the rubble. Load the BeamReflexor and fire a few rounds of ricochet bullets into the area. Hopefully you've knocked out more than you knew were actually stalking you from behind? Pick-up all the MetalHead Skull Gems and ammo cartridges left behind. Pick-up the Precursor Orbs near the pipes. Move on... |
WEAPON STRATEGY: If you find yourself overwhelmed with too many enemies all at once, you can always load the SuperNova and mini-nuke the whole area. Only one problem.... The blast is so complete, there will be NO ammo cartridges or Skull Gems? But then again, the explosion fireball is so awesome, you probably can't resist.

Near the big crater, go to the right and walk up the rubble to the sidewalk. Whack the nearby ammo crates. At the end of the sidewalk, up against the far wall, Jak can see a Dark Eco Power Vent. A few KG Leapers are roaming around the piles of rubble. Take care of business with the BeamReflexor. To the left is a door panel made from Dark Eco. Charge up with Dark Eco in the Power Vent. Use Jak's Dark Eco Strike to blast down the door. Recharge in the vent again.
KEEP JAK'S DARK ECO POWER ON! Climb over the rubble in the next section. Stay to the right, avoiding the crater. Use Dark Strike to destroy any KG Bots or MetalHeads trying to ambush you. Walk along the ledge to the open area with the 2 power vents. Return to normal [L2] and Load the BeamReflexor. Look for a small spider nest in the ground. Several DarkMaker Spiders will crawl out. Peg them as they emerge. Eventually the nest itself explodes. Whack the nearby crates.
Go to the far wall and charge up in the Light Eco Power Vent. Jak has to cross the crater to the bridge pier on the left. Use Light Eco Flight and flap your wings across and down to the pier. Quickly change to normal [L2] and load the PeaceMaker. Fire 2-3 shots as the KG Bots try to ambush you. Pick-up their ammo cartridges. Load the BeamReflexor. Peg the Metalhead Leapers in the rubble. Walk to the end and recharge in the Light Eco Power Vent against the wall. |
Go back into Light Eco Flight and fly to the hidden ledge around the corner to the left. Change back to normal and Load the PeaceMaker. Walk down the passageway slowly. There are KG & Metalheads everywhere. Fire 2-3 shots to take care of the group of Bots huddled together. More Metalheads will appear as you go deeper into the room. Load the Plasmite RPG and fire 3-4 grenades to clean-out the area. Go and recharge in the Dark Eco Vent. Dark Strike the door. |
WEAPON STRATEGY: This is a combat situation where the SuperNova mini-nuke would be an effective alternative if the KG & Metalhead are swarming. REMINDER. The SuperNova uses 8-10 ammo per nuke, so only 3-4 bombs max, assuming you buy the Increase Dark Ammo Capacity + SuperNova Efficiency Secret. Reloads are rare. |
Once the Dark door is blasted open, walk down the passageway to the next open area. Jump down the block steps to the small platform. The stone blocks will crumble away as you jump. Walk across the rubble, hopping over the crumble blocks to the next open area. Peg the MetalHeads as they try to ambush you hiding in the cracks of the rubble. In the next open area, we seem to have reached a dead-end. Look down over the crater on the right. There's twisted metal beams. |
Use Jak's JetBoard and rail grind across the beams to the next ledge. Don't forget to hop from one beam to another [X]. Peg the Metalheads on the next ledge, then work your way across the rubble, down the wall to the next gap. Jump across the crumble blocks to the courtyard with the ruined buildings. There's another Dark Eco Power Vent on the left, and a Dark door on the right. Peg the DarkMaker Spiders and nest as you walk up. Go charge up with Dark Eco. |
Use Jak's Dark Eco Strike and blast open the door. Stay in Dark Eco mode and throw energy balls at the Leapers as they attack. Go back into normal mode, jump down to the ledge, go to the left and climb over the crumble blocks. Load the Plasmite RPG and quickly fire a few grenades as you get swarmed with MetalHeads. You may want to consider using Jak's Light Eco Defense Shield if you're worried about your health. The shield bubble will knock the MetalHeads over the edge. |
Go to the end of the courtyard and jump back on the JetBoard. Rail grind across the next set of beams to the far palace wall. Peg the MetalHeads then go left. Climb up the crumble blocks and peg any MetalHead left roaming around. Whack all the ammo crates nearby. This next set of rail grinds are tough. Navigate the JetBoard carefully making sure you jump to the beams in time. Load the SuperNova (or PeaceMaker if you're low on ammo). Wait for the ambush and BLOW THEM UP! |
Load the BeamReflexor and walk down the alley. Peg anything that moves. At the end, go up the ramp and around to the right. There's another Dark Eco Power Vent in the corner on the right and another Dark door in the Palace perimeter wall. Load up with Dark Eco and Dark Strike to blast open the door. You may have to walk up real close to get the Dark Strike to work. Go through the opened doorway. [Movie sequence begins]. |
Pecker the parrot has been waiting patiently in the rubble... He's upset that it took you so long to find him... He's molted 3 times!.. He relays a message from Onin that Jak has to get to the Catacombs quickly before the Dark Ship awakens. A group of DarkMaker Satellites then swoop down and pin them against the rubble. THEY'RE DOOMED! Daxter bids farwell to his buddies Jak and Pecker and says it was nice knowing you. |
Suddenly, out of nowhere, Damas crashes through the wall in the Slam Dozzer, just in time to take-out the Satellites. Jak & Daxter are relieved. Jak questions Damas why he attacked head-on? Damas says he has a thick skull and sometimes you have to act before you think. OK.... Jak hops in the Slam Dozzer with Damas, and they set-off to drive through the ruins.
