After winning the Leaper race in the village against the monks, and then seeing the Day Star, Jak takes a Leaper back to garage to meet up with Kleiver. |

[Movie sequence begins] Kleiver asks Jak if he's up for a little action? Kleiver hates Metal Heads and wants these guys brought down. Of course Jak thinks everything's fine and has taken care of a few Metal heads before, in his time Why should this be any different? Kleiver laughs because he knows these Metal heads are quite different and HUGE!! Jak gets to drive a new buggy. At least the Sand Shark has mounted guns and is faster. |

As you race across the desert, following the radar blips in the proximity radar, the Metal Head Beasts come into view. These are HUGE T-REX DINOSAURS that run. There are 4 beasts in all to take down. Not an easy task. Jak has to chase the Metal Heads as they run in and around the rocks and trees over the dunes. You have to fire your guns at the bodies from mid to close range. Watch-out for the ambush attack. They'll turn around and bump you, catapulting the buggy. |

Be careful, because you'll get thrown a good 100 feet or more. The buggy will take damage. The Metal Head Beasts also throw small bomb grenades as you chase them down. Avoid the explosions and keep firing away as you drive behind. Eventually the Metal Head will fall and collapse. Chase down another beast and finish him off. Chase down the last Metal Head and make him fall. BE CAREFUL! HE'S NOT DEAD YET!!! He gets up a second time and runs away. |

The last Metal Head is aggressive and runs a treacherous route through the sand dunes. Keep at it and wait for him to circle around and then fire away from a safe vantage point. He'll take a little longer to go down the second time, but he does eventually die. As he falls, he drops a disc and a Dark Eco Crystal onto the sand. Approach the Metal Head. [Movie sequence begins]. |

Jak picks up the Dark Eco Crystal. A hologram face appears in the disc lying in the sand. Errol is waiting frantically for the Metal Heads to report-in hoping that they still have the Dark Eco Crystal cargo with them. Then Errol sees Jak. UHOH!! Jak doesn't remember who it is, but he does know the face is familiar.. Drive back to the garage. Along the way, you're going to face Marauders again. This time you can blow them up for turbo boosts. |

There are Precursor Statues in the desert for more mystery mini-challenges. The Sand Shark is a good fast dune buggy for retreiving bonus orbs. |
