Jak & Daxter





There are 2 powercells to get in this level. They can be found:

Making it to the end of the lava tubes on the a-grav zoomer still alive
Finding and freeing all 7 scout flies

Lava Tubes 1 1 This is the toughest level yet for maneuvering with Kyra's a-grav zoomer. Kyra explains that she has increased the resistance of the heat shield to 800 degrees. The temporary heat shield is more sensitive to time and the obstacle course is a challenge even for a seasoned rider. It's long and dangerous. The only saving grace are the mid-section restart points along the way should Jak happen to vaporize.

Lava Tubes 2 The first tunnel section of lava is routine. Lots of twisty and turning ramp bridges over deep caverns. There are lots of stray orbs but for this first pass I wouldn't worry. The object at this point, is to get all the way through the tunnel to at least the middle power chamber, with the heat shield intact. Be careful not to travel too fast over the bridges. They are ramped in awkward areas and one slip can mean disaster. Pass through as many blue balloons as you can.

NOTE: Once you have successfully completed Lava Tubes and have docked at the transwarp vent pad at Gol and Maia's Citadel entrance, you can always teleport back to the Red Sage's World after and re-enter the tubes as many times as you want, to pick up any loose treasure and or stray scout flies.

Lava Tubes 3 Once you enter the power chamber find all the blue balloons that you can. Cool down the heat shield as much as you can and then power up with yellow eco energy from a floor vent. Take out the 5 energy balls powering the central gear mechanism. This will open the portal door. Zoom out the portal into the next river section. The hanging spike bombs can be easily detonated with yellow eco. Jump to the elevated catwalks and zoom your way up the river tunnel.

Lava Tubes 4 The elevated catwalk sections zig zag up and down the river tunnel. There are 2 distinct routes and either one will get you to the next section. Take the lower route first. There are 2 scout flies and lots of metal boxes containing orbs. Make sure you have enough speed to clear the gaps between ramps and try not to over steer into the banked corners. Should you fall off the catwalk, Jak will vaporize and restart back at the power chamber from a new transwarp vent pad.

Lava Tubes 5 After making it through the river section, Jak has to zoom through a busy factory area with dark eco barrels suspended from overhead chain conveyers and lots of spike bombs. The trick to getting by the moving barrels, is to power up from the yellow eco energy vent and then blast the barrels as they come out from the wall. This will create a big enough gap to zoom through. Blast the spike bombs as you can and get all the blue balloons to cool down the heat shield.

Lava Tubes 6 At the end of the factory section, there is still another lava river section to get through with nasty twisting catwalks and big gaps to jump. Finally, there is one last tough factory section to get through. Try and grab all the orbs and scout flies as you can. Remember that if you do fall here you re-start from a mid-point transwarp pad, so it's not that bad. Make it through to the end and grab the powercell on the transwarp pad. Don't forget to activate the teleport gate for Kyra.
